Physical Disability Board of Review Update

please keep your political views(republican)to your self, this site is not about the current adminstration, but about the wrongs that was done to veterans of the wars in iraq and afganisthan,i think most of my veteran sisters and brothers will agree with me on this.our aim is to recieve a retirement thru the pdbr board, and for the d0d to correct the injustice that was done to so many veterans of the current wars, president bush, or president obama, has nothing to do with the dod med boards or the pdbr, PLEASE KEEP YOUR POLITICS, AND YOUR POLITICAL OPINIONS TO YOUR SELF,,,WE THE INJURED VETERANS WHO GOT SCREW BY THE DOD MEDICAL BOARD IS LOOKING FOR JUSTICE

What i stated was a fact, there are only so many dollars to go around and the current administration would rather they go to social programs. I'm not a Republican..btw... If you got offended then i am sorry.

Your opinion is offensive as it is just an opinion. Allot of us are looking at this as a way to recieve a right to a wrong that was done on us. Don't bring pestamistic non sense in here. We lose we fight. We keep fighting at the federal level. In plain english it states that the VASRD is the primary medical documentation to come to a decision. If not for our own retirement, but to show the public we are being treated as expendable objects. Chin up. Were gonna win it.

Actually, I think the fact that this is happening now is very good timing. Obama wants to get reelected, and he can't do it with Acorn alone. So I think he needs to get as many behind him as possible in order to be reelected. Also, one of the points of the "Cloward-Piven Strategy" in which the Democrats are using to reset this great country, calls for great expansion of entitlement payouts which, “should work to sabotage and destroy the welfare system; the collapse of the welfare state would ignite a political and financial crisis that would rock the nation; poor people would rise in revolt; only then would "the rest of society" accept their demands.”
Therefore, if we get what we rightly deserve it might just help in their efforts according to the “Cloward-Piven Strategy”. Unless they decide Veterans are less worthy.

I saw where someone was told keep their political(republican) opinion to themselves.
so if it was a democrat opinion it would be ok?
My point is the country is running into financial trouble. That is a FACT That is on both sides and Bush and Obama.
No matter what side you take( I take neither) we have been screwed and fogotten by our politicians who use us up in washington.
We need to stick together and get our justice that we all deserve. Good luck to everyone take care John

Essie,
oh, that is great news! Maybe we'll all see some movement now! Did you get any letters, other than the first 2 we all got, to tell you that your packet had moved to the board, or was it just through a phone call. We're trying to be patient... :)
Thanks!

Hey Everyone,

Just to let you know my Docket # is 19 and I have not heard a peep since they sent me the letter on 22 Jan 09 that they received my info and it was going to be processed. I received notice from the VA though in March that they were screwing around with my pay because I didn't repay all of my severance, even though I'm preparing an appeal because they took out tons of money from my several increases in % over the past years. Also included in that notice was the PDBR requested my records.

Haven't heard a peep after that until I read your guys posts. Im going to call Monday and find out from my end whats going on. I'll keep you all posted. Also do you guys have a different number then 210-565-3256?

Wow, very interesting to think about! Thanks for the post.

Just a note.

If you look at various posts over time, I have stated that I prefer that people keep politics out of this board. I have seen too many forums get dragged down into a mud-slinging contest. My real aversion to opening this can of worms is that the goal of this site is to help those who need information on the MEB/PEB process and their benefits. I know feeling can run high (and rightly so) on political issues. However, if this site turns into a forum for heated political discussions, I can see people getting turned off by the political messages and missing important information about their rights.

I also know that there can be gray areas. When the Administration or the Departments of Defense or Veterans Affairs makes a policy or takes some action, it has political undertones. However, I think talking about specific policies and not the identity or motivations of political parties or individual politicians do not raise the same issues that I am concerned about.

I have in the past thought about making a "political chatter" forum where people could discuss these issues. However, I think that it is impossible to segregate the posts and not have spill over into the main areas. My thought is that if you want to have a discussion on political issues, get in touch with each other through e-mail or Private Message. Then you can discuss to your hearts content.

I respect everyone's right to vote how they like and to support the party or candidate of their choice. It is also an important part of a democracy to discuss these issues. However, this is not the place for it.

Thanks for the contributions of all members, regardless of political affiliation. Each of you has an experience that by sharing can help someone else out there with a similar issue. Willingness to help other Servicemembers with your experiences is a great quality.

Well Said Jason,
I know if it weren't for the advocacy groups fighting for the Veterans that deal with the politics so we shouldn’t have to, we would really be in a world of hurt. However, the fact is that this is all related to politics and people know it, and it’s always in the back of one’s mind. Having said that, this forum should just stick to the facts and keep each other informed because this could make a big difference in one’s life. As for me, my son needs an operation and if the PDBR finds in my favor, he can finally get that operation if the reports are true that I will be able to get Tri-care if all goes good. If things don’t go the way they should, then we can unleash political hell on them.

Im with ya! Im Fully Disabled, VA 100% due to Unemployability, and Social Security Disabled, but my health insurance consists of VA since I am not retired from the AF..Im about 6 months away from Medicare, but if I have something wrong with me, its either wait forever for an appointment which is 30 minutes away to the nearest Clinic, or the hospital, but by then it might be too late! Hopefully this retirement comes through for me and I can take care of my preventiveness a little more and give my son that medical umbrella as well. For him he is luckily on my ex-wifes medical insurance, but who knows how long insurance will last or her employment.

God Bless Black Sheep and good luck!

call the (pdbr board) in texas on friday to inquire about status of application and was told that they the (pdbr) is waiting on medical file from the v.a. and that request was sent out to v.a since april for medical records and v.a has not reply, call the v.a also on friday and was told that no request for records from the (pdbr) has been requested, wow, call back the (pdbr) in texas and was told that hundred of request have been made to v.a for medical records and none has been forward from the v.a as yet. folks, we are in month seven, since most of us submitted our pdbr application,no wonder no one has gotten back a result from the pdbr board as yet, because the v.a and the(pdbr) is not working together, i though this was the federal government, and both office are under one umbrella,am i the onl one experienceing this? or is other veterans having the same said to them each time they call the pdbr board in texas?

I have docket 267. I applied in the first week of April and got a letter at the end of June saying my packet was at the central adjudication unit. I'll call today and see what they tell me. I hate to bring this up, but the longer they stall the more potential retirement $$$ they save. A lot of these MEB/PEB people when I went through the board in 2002 acted like it was their money they where saving. I have no reason to believe the PDBR people think any differently. So it would seem the VA would be a conevenient excuse for them to hold up the show. Not our fault man....talk to the VA.....

O think it's a stall tactic aswell. I will be sending a return recipt requestged letter asking what the status is on my decision. Think we all should. It is supporting documentation that the goverment is sand baggin us.

Ok folks,

I just got my news, my docket number is #19 and I was told by an Airman at the Intake Unit by phone that my case was pending final approval from the Adjudication Unit. Once that happens my approval is sent to the AF/BCMR (Board for Correction of Military Records) where it goes through the final approval stages and sent to the SECAF where he signs off on it.

So the way it sounds it's looking promising! Hope this helps guys.

Jon

OK, called the intake unit at lunchtime here EST. I talked to a very helpful Airman and here is the scoop. I actually have docket #297, they have all my VA and PEB/MEB records, and my packet was received and acknowledged by the board in Washington on 7 July 2009. As with the post below he informed me that if my packet is approved for retirement, then it goes to my services Board for Correction of Military Records. He said that BCMR could take some time to update my records to medical retired status. If the board denies the request for medical retirement then the intake unit will find that out fairly quickly and inform me. The Airman told me they had over 400 applications. I think there where up to 65,000 people granted less then 30% as of 2008. It looks like a lot of people don't know anything about this board, and I think DOD hopes it stays that way.
I was also told that all processing came to a grinding halt in April (that would be about the time LTC Parker dragged them (PDBR) kicking and screaming before congress) and that when processing resumed in May that they wanted all records. It seems prior to April they where just going to do what the BCMRs had done in the past, insure that if you where screwed, you had been screwed according to the regulations in effect at the time of your discharge. The Airman seems to think the attitude at the board had changed for the better after April. So cross your fingers everyone.

Decided to call and check as well. Was given the same similar response by a civilian named Mike. Basically said waiting on VA to send medical records and when they got them they would continue review and send results back to the army if necessary.

Thanks for your update! Helps to collaborate mine!

This all seems to be going in a positive direction I am going to call tommorow at lunch.
I am happy for all of us that we are inching toward our individual justice that we dserve.
Honestly I do not care about the back pay as much as I just want the retirement.
2 reasons 1 just to have the acknowledgement that I was wronged and it was corrected. Vindication I believe is the word.
2. the benefits for my daughter. I have a question as far as that goes. she was born after I was shafted out of the Army. will she still get my tricare?
anyways I hope all of you get retired you all deserve it.
Take care have a good wek to all.
John

John,

Yes, she would be covered so long as she is an eligible dependent.

Hope you get the vindication you deserve!
