    PDBR Retired/Severance

I just got my result the day after Veterans Day! They agreed to recharacterize my medical separation in April 2006 to "disability retirement with the combined disability rating of 50%". VA awarded me 60% ($1219/mo.) after they recouped the severance ($34,000) the Army "loaned" me. I'm...

    PDBR Pay ?

To be "medically retired" you must have 8 yrs of active service in order to receive a pension, blue ID card and all the same privilage as one who did 20 yrs. Pls correct me if I'm wrong, thanks!

    Retirement calculation IF approved

My understanding that if one is found to have 30% or more during a medical board and that you have at least 8 years of active duty, you are considered "medically retired" and that you will be receiving the exact same benefits as someone who did 20 yrs. I mean, isn't this whole topic that we're...

    Retirement calculation IF approved

The question "Do I receive BOTH retirement and VA compensation checks?" has not been answered yet. In addition, I've seen formulas to figure out the retirement, but there is no chart for those who served the minimum 8 yrs of active duty.

    Retirement calculation IF approved

IF my PDBR is approved, how will my retirement be calculated? Will I receive back pay from discharge date? Do I receive both retirement and VA checks? -MEB gave me 10%...VA gave me 60% off the bat...medical discharge on Apr 2006. -$35,000 severance recovered by VA last year. -9 yrs active...

    What should I expect?

What is "CRSC"? I'm new to this therefore don't know the jargon used here. None of my disabilities were directly "combat related" but was basically "kicked to the curb" like everybody else here. I did 9 years total if that helps.

    What to expect?

I thought that to be qualified for PDBR you must have at least 8 years of service upon being medically discharged. Did you say you only have 6 yrs in? Just get out now and get the VA rating and go to school. Medical retirement is out of the question if you didn't finish 8 years.

    What should I expect?

Here's my summary: * Army PEB gave me 10% with medical discharge after 9 yrs of active duty. * Received about $35,000 severance pay at discharge date (16 Apr 2006) and filed w/VA on same day. * VA rated me @ 60% on Jan 2007 and began collecting (Rating amount minus severance payback) monthly...
