2nd Ebenefits Claim Status

So I have a second claim opened on 7 July that lists conditions "IDES" and says "Under Review" for status. Original est. completion dates were like Sep/Oct then a few days later changed to March 2017-April 2017.

My understanding is this means I was found "unfit" and now they are doing the ratings. From what I gather on here, the 2nd claim (IDES) will go from "Under Review" to closed and historical.

Has anyone else seen another stage in there on ebenefits for the 2nd claim?

Has anyone else seen the estimated completion dates jump out so far like that?

Yes, there are more stages to the second claim. They are: claim received, under review, gather of evidence, review of evidence, preparation for decision, pending decision approval, preparation for notification, complete. After your claim has gone through these statuses it will be moved to historical. My estimated completion dates jumped out pretty far, but they are not accurate so don't be concerned with them. It's really based on how quickly your regional office is processing claims.

Mine has said the same thing since like April or May, so I lost faith in it. I still look at it daily lol

Nice it looks like its a pretty fast process, my MEB profile was issued 22 June 2016 and I have my first VA exam first week in August, hope mine is speedy as well.

Which claim went historical for people? The original claim opened for compensation or the 2nd claim of IDES?

The IDES Claim.

The original claim will be finished after your sep/retire date. If you step back and think about it, that claim is for all your conditions. The IDES one shows after the DoD decides that you are unit for X condition/s and sends that/those to be rated individually. They come to a determination on that one, and give proposed on all the others and send it back to the DoD. That one claim for one or few items then closes since it was only for IDES purposes, and the other will finalize after you get out and they can make an official determination when you're a veteran.

That's why you have to wait to get a VA check after discharge.

Thanks, they screwed mine up. Closed the Compensation one, then opened a new one and closed the IDES one?? Who knows
