Adjustment Disorder news

Haven't seen or heard from my Peblo since my my last visit. With everything is on hold, I've pretty much written off the entire process and continuing on with what I was working on before the MEB, namely my SLC course. Although only 3 weeks in length, I had to postpone it while nothing happened MEB wise. Class is starting on Monday.

Any news on when MEDCOM will sent out the guidelines for chronic adjustment disorder???

I don't know if anyone has seen this yet: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/113/s628/text
Thanks for the link. Can anyone tell me what the hell that thing says in English? My uncle is an attorney so I guess I could ask him to decipher it but I'm afraid that after the "wherefores" and the "hences" it kind of leaves me confused and wanting more. Also, I would like to ask anyone out there about this "disorder" we have been diagnosed with. From what the psyche told me I had been subjected to so much death and loss that I was having trouble dealing with the loss. Now, from reading this, it seems like it's some sort of stigma inducing Scarlet Letter personality disorder. What the hell does that mean? Please, anybody out there that really knows what this disorder is, explain it to me. Please.

An adjustment disorder is a type of stress-related mental illness. You may feel anxious or depressed, or even have thoughts of suicide. Your normal daily routines may feel overwhelming. Or you may make reckless decisions. In essence, you have a hard time adjusting to change in your life, and it has serious consequences. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/adjustment-disorders/DS00584

If your adjustment disorder doesn't meet retention standards they are working on giving soldiers a disability percentage for it. Normally the Military will kick you out with out and compensation what so ever. If your adjustment disorder meets retention standards you won't be rated by DOD, maybe just VA hopefully. That's what I take away from everything I have read so far.

So if your adjustment disorder meets retention standards why am I still waiting for my DA 199 I'm so frustrated cause I feel that my case shouldn't have been held while others that needed the attention smh

I agree, my adjustment disorder meets retention standards so I should not be held either. I guess the order was to hold all packets no matter what. The only reasonable explanation I can think of is even if you do meet retention standards we could still get a rating from the VA for it.

10 USC 1216a requires fitness to be determine in light of all conditions both individually and collectively. A condition that meets retention standards can still be cause for/contribute to unfitness and a condition that fails retention standards may not necessarily cause/contribute to unfitness. Fitness is individualized based on an individual's specific duties. If a condition contributes to unfitness it is to be rated per the VASRD and included in the DoD rating.

Servicemember Mental Health Review Act link. as of MARCH 20 2013
(link to the bills timeline)
The Bill didn't even make it to Senate or House. After signing Da 199 why members being held / taken off transpoc / transition (or delayed). At the moment this is all rumors and if one acts if the bill is passed is premature. I have to agree wiith

If the bill is signed and official it should make a impact on the process but base on a introduction of a bill it shouldn't delay forum members from transition or chapter 61.

Also does this affect the 365 day timeline they have for MEB to be completed? A few ppl I know are coming up on that time frame

I received my unfit memo in mid-March and have been waiting for my VA ratings from the Seattle regional office since that time. I had one unfitting condition and several others meeting retention standards on my 3947, including adjustment disorder. Finally heard from my DAV rep that the systems shows a "rating pending an addendum." Don't have any information beyond that but I have a feeling the "addendum" has something to do with the adjustment disorder. Has anyone else seen something similar in their cases?

So apparently I'm beating a dead horse according to my COC I've been in MEB 306 day (my count is 257), I did get an update on my Ebenefits but it was for my inquiry that the congressman put in and now the congressional is waiting on DOA to explain why I m being held back ..... DRAS got my stuff on Jan 8 -13 and I've been waiting since then for my ratings. My peblo knows nothing ( I just called today ) and to quote Peblo11 from yesterday at 16:49 "No news" Seriously how long are they gonna hold people.

Looking thru my C&P exam and the other documents I received before being placed on hold I see that my CAD is not labeled as chronic or acute. It only explains that I have Adjustment Disorder with Anxiety and Depression. In my paperwork it is dated as beginning in 2011. Would not that be designated as Chronic by definition? From what I understand any problem lasting more than six months is attributed as chronic. Am I correct in this assumption? Also, my CAD is labelled as being within reg's and not a disqualifying condition. Is this something else that is being considered by the VA? Whether or not it is or is not disqualifying? I know we have talked about this before but my short term memory sucks the older I get. Help please on this subject?

PEB??? on AKO? or you guys system?
Yes, Mike, you can reference your MEB/PEB on AKO. In your Medical windows if you look, you will find the status of your MEB/PEB. No, I am not system by the way.

Another question in reference to this CAD. I asked my retention NCO about extending again and was told that my CO would have to write a letter on my behalf to allow my extension because people had done shady things regarding reenlistment/extensions using the MEB as a ruse. Has anyone else heard this? I only have about 125 days left on this last hitch and I know that with this latest hiccup that's not going to be enough. I have already extended once for a year so what's another year between friends, eh? I'd damn sure rather wait it out another year than get out with no benefits. Thanks again, guys.

Mine said the same thing for quite some time. I don't know how long you have been in the system but my window did not have any information until I received my C&P exam and was ready to move forward to the PEB part of the whole thing. Since then, I have been put on hold because of the Chronic Adjustment Disorder so mine just says:Pending Information, or something like that. So, until you move forward in the process you will continue to see the same thing in the window. Good luck and I hope you move on quickly. Anything else you need help with please continue to post because even though I had the answer to this one these other guys can answer many more questions and by helping you with your question it might just help somebody else also. Take care.

I've been in the process since sept 20-12 and I feel like there should Be Some kind of info on it I have already received my unfit for duty so idk what's going on!?!
