28 Jan 12 - Notified of MEB decision for UNFIT
30 Jan 12 - Package recieved by IPEB at AFPC
16 Mar 12- Peb requests ratings from VA
19 Mar 12 - VA stacks case for review

Now I am just waiting. It's Infuriating.:confused:
 
It really is. Did you get your MEB "UNFIT" decision from the local board? My package was sent to AFPC in December and there was no decision made on it. It was finally sent to Baltimore in February, then Cleveland in March. On the 28th, my ebenefits updated to say "COMPLETE, Notification Sent." Yet my PEBLO still can't tell me whether I'm fit or unfit :/
 
The MEB determines you UNFIT if/when they send your package to AFPC for PEB. I also know I have been determined unfit by AFPC because they requested ratings from the VA. They don't do this unless you are unfit.
 
Good news today! Learned yesterday from the VA ISIS that my package was completed by them and ret'd to the Air Force on 20 Mar. PEBLO has not yet confirmed that AFPC does have the ratings back....per PEBLO, AFPC has had my package "In adjudication" since mid December (same status she has been giving me everytime I inquire!). MSC stated a few months ago: "I will not know anything until your package comes back from Baltimore and that will take several months" Fingers are crossed that I have something in the next 2-3 weeks from AFPC.

My timeline:

Feb '10: PCM recommends MEB and puts a code 37 on me
Jan '11: initial consult with local MEB nurse to initiate MEB package under legacy system; obtained statement from civilian ortho surgeon and ROMs from AF physical therapist
Feb '11: NARSUM completed
Feb '11: met with PEBLO
Mar '11: local boards recommends IPEB
Mar'11: IPEB finds unift and gives 40% PDRL
Mar '11: Request LAS
May '11: LAS granted; informed that final MEB needed before I retire at my 20 yr mark (Feb '12)
Jul '11: Advised by MEB nurse to wait until Oct '11 to initiate final MEB
Sep '11: Met with MEB nurse to initiate final MEB
Sep '11: Briefing with PEBLO (new one!) and informed of new IDES process and a 295-day timeline (gulp!)
28 Sep '11: Met with MSC
Oct '11: VA medical exams
10 Nov '11: VA package with exam results sent to PEBLO
1 Dec '11: placed on MEDHOLD (had planned terminal leave starting 15 Dec)
8 Dec '11: met with PEBLO to review VA exam and sign paperwork
~ 15 Dec '11: package sent to AFPC
14 Mar '11: package at VA in Decision Phase; Baltimore forwarded package to Cleveland (learned thru ISIS inquiry)
20 Mar '11: VA decision is complete and VA states package ret'd to PEB (learned thru ISIS inquiry)
~ 4 Apr '11: waiting for PEBLO to confirm that package is back at AFPC
 
Belle, how did you go about requesting LAS?? Is it a form that you have to fill out, or do you have to do a memorandum? Just curious as I am considering going down that road when the time comes. Thanks in advance!
 
When you get the results back from the IPEB, you must accept their results. Your PEBLO should have the form to request LAS. It's a bit of a gamble...if your request for LAS is denied, than you will be retired because you've elected to accept the retirement and not appeal to the FPEB. Believe I was lucky in that I was just over 19 yrs and am in an AFSC and rank that is undermanned, therefore spending another year in my current desk job was a win-win. Good luck!
 
I happen to be in one of those career fields too, and have already primed our CFM in the event I elect to request LAS. Not sure who the approving authority is, but could only assume the CFM would be involved in the decision. Luckily, I know the assignments Chief too, so if AFPC is the approval auth., I would hope he would be part of the decision. I am at 18 yrs in May, so still a while to go...but that retirement income would be nice!! It all comes down to if I have a job lined up or not at the time of their decision. Thanks for the info!
 
Sigh. Just learned from my PEBLO that AFPC has not yet rec'd my package back from the VA after their ratings, despite VA stating it was complete and sent out on 20 March. PEBLO and the local MSC here have several cases that have fallen into this same "black hole." MSC is making phone calls to find out where these packaages are at. Just left a mesasge on the ISIS line for someone to call me back! PEBLO stated that once the VA does snail mail the package, it's 7 days before it arrive at AFPC, then another 4 weeks for AFPC to adjudicate before sending anything to my base. Sigh.... I'm still in a holding pattern.

Also I am in the new IDES program, but still took a little over 3 months for them to come to a decision.

Do you have dates for how long the VA took once receiving your IPEB paperwork? My Cleveland claim was closed 10 April and am waiting for Baltimore to now send it back to the IPEB- wondering how long that took for you?

My package was sent up to both AFPC and the VA on the 16th of dec. They sent both my va rateing and my ipeb paperwork at the same time which was about 3 months a little over actually. Are you in the IDES program? One way to be able to check on your va stuff is in the ebenifits. Mine still says "pending final approval" but I figure thats because it starts after I get out.

Yes, in the IDES as well- I have been watching it on ebenefits- They started on my VA claim Jan 10th for my rating and the PEB received my paperwork Feb 2nd- Being found unfit March 23rd. Va received my paperwork from PEB March 28th. Cleveland closed my claim and has it as "complete" April 10th- but my Baltimore claim still says "pending decision approval" and has since practically Feb. I called the VA this morning and they said it is still in Baltimore awaiting final authorization and should be sent by the end of this week, so hopefully not too much longer. Do you know how long AFPC took after receiving your rating from the VA? Most people are saying about 3-4 weeks....

May 2nd will mark 3 months that my paperwork has been with the IPEB
 
From the time my ebenifits changed to pending decision approval it was about 2 weeks or so before they called me. I called my peblo many times and he had no clue where my stuff was except that he sent it to afpc. I would say you may have a 3 month wait. One person i know had her package sent back for more information from the IPEB and the VA and after that they told her it would be about a month and a half before she gets her decision. My peblo even told me to expect to wait for at least 3 months before I would know anything.

AAAAHHHHHHHH!!!! My VA stuff had a due date of today, and as far as I can tell it's still just hanging out in Baltimore and none has touched it. I am having a really hard time holding on to my sanity. I am having daily panic attacks that are accompanied by migraine headache's. This is to much stress for one person to just sit back and wait. And in the mean time I am expected to go to work everyday and pretend that everything is fine, and OR deal with anxiety, pain and depression. Work just makes it worse. It's a constant reminder of the limbo I am in. How can the VA and the Military do this to the people who have given everything to help there country, and in our time of need, it's just keep swimming, hurry up and wait, and make sure you keep coming to work like a good girl. Does anyone else find this to be cruel and unusual punishment to our men and women who have gone above and beyond the regular population????
 
Well, just rec'd a response from the VA ISIS:

Your rating decision, code sheet and benefits estimate letter was sent to your Military Service Coordinator (MSC) by email on April 6, 2012.

The same documents were mailed on the date above to the Physical Evaluation Board (PEB). Your file has been sent to the Disability Evaluation System (DES).

Thank you for contacting us. If you have questions or need additional help with the information in our reply, please respond to this letter or see our other contact information below.

Hmmm...last Friday neither my PEBLO nor MSC knew if my package had been sent by Baltimore back to AFPC. Once again waiting for the PEBLO to confirm whether or not AFPC has my package and for the MSC to confirm that she rec'd the 6 Apr e-mail that ISIS says was sent to her. "Trust, but verify!"
 
Belle...just curious...what did you send in to the VA to get that kind of detailed response??
 
Twiztid: I had replied on an original e-mail from ISIS and asked for more clarification. The questions I asked were:

Would like to know if my package, after the ratings were applied, was returned to the Air Force. If so, on what date was my package mailed and by what means? If it has not yet been returned to the Air Force, when will it be? I have been informed by my PEBLO that the Air Force has not rec’d this package as of 12 Apr 12 in order to complete the IPEB.
