Hello,
I'm in the AFR, I already have a 100% P/T from the VA. I was diagnosed with PTSD and other side effects in 2020. The reserves allowed me to stay in until fall of 2023 when I was admitted to a suicide clinic and then five weeks of in-patient treatment at the VA. I have 22 years in the military and they started a MEB on me in Feb. I didn't have an LOD for this, so they initiated one which went through the channels and has already been sent to AFRC. My medical officer recommended a MEB as well. It's been sitting at AFRC for over 40 days with no word. Now the questions.

1. Is there a time limit for AFRC to make a decision?
2. Once they make a decision, what is the timeline or process?
3. Can I receive military disability pay and VA pay?
4. Since I'm a reservist, do I still have to wait until 60 to receive TriCare?
5. Should I just punch the button and do a regular retirement?

Thanks,

I"m skipping 1 and 2 as others will likely have better answers. there are timelines, I just don't know them.
3. If you have any combat related conditions those can allow dual pay. Or you will have to wait till your 60 (or age reduced reserve retirement.)
4. If you get medically retired you get Tricare (premium free.) Otherwise you qualify for retired reserve select until 60; which is very costly.
5. That varies and is ultimately up to you. My opinion: Medical Retirement is worth the Tricare benefit, especially now that you already have over 20 years.

Thank you for the response. All of my disabilities were in a combat zone, but none of them are combat related according to the VA.
