As I'm applying for SSDI, it asked if I wanted to apply for SSI, which I said yes, but I'm not sure I should have. Did I jack this up?

No, definitely not! As such, SSI pays benefits based on financial need while SSDI pays benefits to you and certain members of your family if you are "insured," meaning that you worked long enough and paid Social Security taxes. Take care!
