ANG MEB question

Good morning everyone!

I was informed 2 weeks ago I am being sent to the IPEB for Mdd. I was told 4-6 weeks before the peblo reaches out. I received my mental health rating from the VA 2 years ago, so I don’t need the Va ratings just dod for retirement. Now heres my question.

Theres the tdrl and pdrl. I do not want to wait for 3 years watching paint dry.. I have been doing it for a year and a half already waiting on this process. Will the MEB/PEB use the last 2 years of documentation showing I haven’t gotten better? Or do they start a whole to timeline to “monitor” you?

Also just a side question, Ides vs Ldes, even if I only want the dod side, still better to use the IDES correct?

Hey, I’m national guard as well and I feel your pain. Difference being, I have no rating (full time agr up until a week before I was finally told I’d be sent to MEB).

Bluf: if your referring condition is your already rated MH and your satisfied with that rating, sure, do LDES. Otherwise, IDES is a catch all that may increase your rating and provide more “cushion” in the event of lowered rating.

Some may correct me, but I’d do IDES. I don’t know your length of service, but even with an existing VA rating, it all comes down to DOD rating for the retirement benefits.

If you’re being boarded for your MH, then I’d say… do it. It can’t hurt and only adds insurance to your percentage should you ever be lowered in any area for some reason. They likely will use your existing rating and apply it as your DOD rating, of course, there’s the real chance they’ll still have you do the examination.
If it’s other than MH, I’d say… definitely do it. Your unfitting condition is what will determine retirement or separation. You also have the option later in the process to have an independent review (3rd party unrelated to your MEB), check your newly founded VA claims for anything else “unfitting” which could help your needed 30%+.

3 years is a long time, but the process will move forward. I was notified April 16th of full MEB (unfit), met with MSC (VA) on the 20th and have since had all my exams, short of on X-rays next week. (22 days total so far)

It’s likely you’ll hear from your MSC (VA Rep) before your PEBLO.

Also, yes, they will look at your last 2 years of records, not start over. My referring condition is all historical data with no new tests or anything like that. It is presumed I will need continuous care and monitoring.

I hit 14 years in October.

It has been 3 weeks here since the rilo sent back i have been disqualified. So im hoping soon ill here from the PEBLO, or really anyone. I could tough out another year if they used the previous 2 years. Im just stuck in a cinder block room with no windows listening the to electricity hit the lights XD so it wears on me more and more. I may just stick with the IDES, just from reading its worth the cushion even though my only disqualifying condition is mental health.

I hear ya, I sat for a year or so waiting for the “unfit”. But I think long term you’ll be happier doing IDES. At least now you can see light at the end of the tunnel. At 3 weeks, I’d start making calls to MDG about getting in contact with the PEBLO or at a minimum your MSC.

My med group told me when they sent out my paperwork itd be 4-6 weeks before the peblo reached out. Which that starts next week, its like the VA i check my email 35838 times a day just to waiting.
