Has anyone filed for social security? I got my proposed rating from the VA. Although I know the VA ratings don't determine eligibility for Social Security. I do know that I can apply while still on Active Duty. Just wanted to know if anyone have experienced this and went through the process. I plan to apply soon! Thanks!

Welcome to the PEB Forum! :)

Indeed, when on Active Duty and prior to my acceptance into the DoD IDES MEB/PEB process, I submitted an application for SSA SSDI and was approved in only 76 calendar days due to being a "Wounded Warrior" at that particular time.

Please reference my URL http://www.pebforum.com/site/thread...disability-insurance-ssdi-compensation.24005/ for detailed information about the entire SSA SSDI process. Take care!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer!"

Best Wishes!

I have applied for and been approved for SSDI. As long as you aren't applying, the answer will always be no! The statistics for approval aren't very high, but the more you read up on your condition and the SSDI rules, the more likely you are to win.
