Average time for the board to process new evidence

So, I'm sending a letter to the board on Tuesday requesting they reconsider some of their finding. Accompanying the letter are documents detailing a new diagnosis (PTSD) I received after my NARSUM was completed. I was wondering if anybody who's been in a similar situation could tell me roughly how long it took the board/VA to issue ratings. While I know every case is different, especially concerning mental health, I would like to get some feedback to get an idea as to how long they've been taking lately.

Also, for the love of God, please don't tell me to be patient. I've been at this for almost a year now and I'm just looking for data. I've been as patient as Job, and will continue to be so.

My MEB began in Nov of 2009 and was completed May of 2014. I was patient.

If the condition of PTSD was not referred by your branch of service or on you VA claim, you may have to submit it immediately upon release of active duty. Would need more details regarding your claim to provide further guidance. What was your referred conditions, what were your claimed conditions, who diagnosed the PTSD and when was it diagnosed?

PTSD, depending on severity, may or may not be unfitting. Thus it could affect only your VA rating or both your DoD and VA percentages.

I suffered a SIGSW to the head on May 3rd of last year. The board only rated the TBI caused by this (10%). In my appeal letter I requested that they also rate the wounds caused by the bullet as a separate cat 1 unfitting condition, along with MDD and PTSD. I'm just hoping for at least 30%. I know that this was my fault, but I'm just trying to do what's best for me and mine.

The PTSD was diagnosed by my therapist ( a Navy LT) after my NARSUM was submitted. My referred conditions were: GSW to the head, unspecified facial fractures, traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhaging,TBI, and maxillofacial trauma. The only claimed condition of note, other than the referred conditions, was MDD.

Any insight on what to expect would be appreciated.

This is not how it is going now, trust me

I was told unfit 50% and placed on a tdrl which means LAS is not an option according to my attorney. I’m also stable however I’m concerned that if las is not an option then arguing for return to duty etc will cause me more harm than good please advise. I’m at 19 years and some change in the AF.

I was also told any ptsd under 80% has to be on a tdrl which means bye no options

Well, I got the call today. I meet with the board on 02 Apr. so here's hoping it goes well.

If the PTSD is from Combat or MST it would help if something obscure or unrelated maybe not.

Wow you got a big gap I put in my request for a formal board on Friday at 1600. Then when I got to work on Monday I had a court date show up in my inbox at 100o for 405 March I was told it had to be within 12 days. Go AF not!! I posted some I wanted to get clarified as they are telling me that if it’s ptsd then it’s an automatic tdrl assignemnt if it’s not over by 80% assigned by ththe branch not the VA then if you’re tdrl your only option is out bc you are not getting a return or fit for duty and you can’t get a LAS because according to a DODI you HAVE to be TDRL this is not what anyone including my recovery coordinator and my Pueblo didn’t mention this and in the AFI doesn’t mention it either......can anyone ADVISE please? My court date is this Wednesday, I don't see my lawyer until Tuesday so if LAS isn’t an option me fighting to stay in will only Rey,t in me possibly making my situation worse.... I’ve been in over 19 years of active duty servic time I was a TSGt ( MSGT sel) medic while active duty then became a first Sgt for the group while in the guard serving in PACOM ( I was a full time tech aka ART/ GS12 then went to I commissioned in 2011 in 2012 I became traditional guardsman then back to active duty in 2015. I was on orders ( title 10) throughout various times all this I am sharing because I have been in 24 years. The Air Force is claiming i only have over 18 years while I have over 19 so just add that to the litany of issues. Initially I was hoping to return to duty now I just want my retirement. I am also fired up bc they are saying all ptsd are tdrl which means are unstable....it is JUNK. All this propaganda saying there’s no label and raise your hand to get help etc.... well I improved but that is not allowed. So now it seems if I go forward with this board that I could only have things taken no value added. Oh yes I should be getting my retirement and my disability in six months but I. So supposed to just take my 180o disability check after 24 years of service and all the things I’ve done. I went from being this hard charger to all of the sudden after getting treatment I can’t be trusted etc... I am soooooo over it. So if ther is anything anyone is able to provide that I may be unaware of ( which in this process I am sure there is) oh and I’m a nurse so my own MDG is The Who didn didn’t follow the instruction when I returned form treatment etc and in instead of owning the myriad of missteps or no steps among some blatant wrongs just pushed the meb and now I’d say MEO is the way I should’ve gone and I almost did. However I did go to the IG..nothing. So again I await any information, suggestions, etc..any of you may have thanks!!!!
