I have a case that goes in front of the Formal Board on Tuesday 26 Feb, and just do not know how it will go. The Dr's narrative does not help me because it is a Life Skills issue. I was told be the Dr when the MEB started for me to prepare to be a civilian. Can any one give me some quick advice?

Scottsolomon,

What did your informal board say? Did you get a valid psych diagnosis? What conditions did they rate and what did they say were not unfitting, if any? What is your branch, grade, and job field (MOS/AFSC/rating)?

make sure you have all additional info. that pertains to your case. i had a REALLY bad narrative written by some ortho. doc, that i met once for 10-15mins.. i went to my mil. pcm and had her do an addendum to it. she basically stated all the med. issues that i am having and being treated for. plus i have all my supporting docs. from all doctor's, letters from family, co-workers and 1 written by me. if you need letter formats for your family, friends/co-workers and one for yourself, i would be glad to e-mail u what i have.
have you gone to the dav or vfw to get the ball rolling on that end. i'm using a local dav rep here in ri and i did that once all my med. issues started to cover my a$$, becuase i did not have any faith in my unit and i knew that my meb was inevitable. i would suggest going to one of your local offices and get that done, asap.
hopefully someone here can give u better guidence. have u e-mailed Jason? i would have gone crazy through this whole process, if it was not for this site and people here like Jason, who just want to help.
STAY STRONG!!! and good luck, feel free to contact me @ ANY time.

Hey Scott,

I had a similar case where my letter of diagnosis from my doctor was not written all that well. What hepled me out was you need to make sure you read over all the addendums that was written by your other doctors. if you do not agree you have the right to write a statement. The board takes really big into consideration your non medical assesment. The board looks at that big time because it is a look on how your medical condition is affecting your work ethic. Good luck on your formal board I am sure you will get what you want you just have to be firm and tell them how you feel.
