CEO of Veterans Club Inc Shelbyville KY sentenced to 6 months in prison for stealing disability benefits because he was able to “work” 40-60 hours a week.
It sounds like he was getting paid TDIU, which has pretty strict limitations, THEN, putting himself out there in a public forum with "6,000" volunteers, then expected to not get noticed? A phrase comes to mind: "Stupid shall be punished".
He was definitely TDIU. If you are just rated 100% combined you can work whatever hours you want and make a billion dollars. It doesn't affect employment at all. You are also not obligated under any circumstances to disclose VA disability to any employer. If you have mental health conditions for example and you are trying to be a cop maybe you have to disclose that you have mental health struggles but you do not have to tell them you are rated by the VA for it.

Yeah he was TDIU. It says in the article he was in the VA Individual Unemployability program. He might have been volunteering some of his time but he was definitely getting paid or this wouldn't even be an issue.
I listened to a podcast this morning he did with Brent Cassity, and he stated he NEVER received a dollar from the nonprofit. They said he was untruthful with the VA representatives he was seeing. The social security administration also investigated him, and they stated they didn’t see anything fraudulent about what he was doing. But boy, the VA stuck it to him!! Even though the VA stated there is no policy against volunteering.

He was not getting paid. They investigated his bank records and he never received a dollar from the nonprofit. They are saying he lied about his mental health status, and if he could volunteer that much, and interact with other veterans dealing with PTSD like he was, then he wasn’t unemployable. He also qualified for SSDI through the wounded warrior program, and they, the SSA, investigated him, and refused to stop his benefits because he isn’t doing anything wrong.
It’s unbelievable. The VA OIG came to The Veterans Club to “talk” to him, but before identifying themselves as investigators, they had a conversation about him and the nonprofit. He said it was feeling more like an interrogation, so he asked them exactly who they were. One of them had spent 400 hours reviewing his podcasts, television interviews, and all his social media. He also told Jeremy what he was doing for veterans was impressive, and that he was just doing his job.
