Best possible outcome!

SO I got 40% DOD for a permanent medical retirement.

And I don't know the breakdown, but I do know that I'll be getting 100% VA disability.

SO THAT'S EXCITING.

I'll be out of the military by Halloween. I'm a little in shock.

Do you have orders yet?

Not yet, but I have a pretty active PEBLO and a supportive First Sergeant so I'm pretty sure we can make it happen without a ridiculous delay.

Also I am like...REALLY aggressive. I had to fight for this medboard(they were just not gonna let me reenlist. I found out less than 6 weeks before my DOS.) and I'm not letting anything get in the way of my hard-earned peaceful existence lol.

When did you get your 199? I just got mine Monday and they told me a couple of weeks I should have my orders?

I'm not sure what a 199 is, but I got my documents yesterday. Both AF and VA. I have to get my leave and PTDY calculated and submit a requested retirement date, and my PEBLO says I should get my orders NLT 2 weeks after that.

when you say you were "Really aggressive".. how so? i just got returned to duty with ALC-C2 code. I was trying to push for MEB, but of course not up to me. What would you recommend from here? I reenlisted for my BOP to Eglin, FL so now my DOS is 2026 and i leave in January 2022, and i really was hoping for an early medical retirement (because my original DOS was April 2022). My next ARILO is March 2022 for my annual review.
Should i just keep seeing specialist off base? i don't really have a great PCM that works with me or an active PEBLO.
(hopefully i make sense)
Thank you in advanced!

Well, like I said above, it started with being denied reenlistment. And the reasons cited were entirely symptoms of my fibro. So I called my doctor, told him that, and asked for an MEB outrighht. I never saw a specialist off-base. From what I understand documentation from that can be used to support an MEB, but an MEB can only be iniated by your medical team.

Then Medical standards didn't want to grant me the extension required for the medhold so I had to get an extension the old-fashioned way. I just made phone calls and sent emails for that, CCd my shirt and supervisor on LITERALLY everything, and had my reenlistment processed within 1 business day of getting denied the medical extension.

Just be clear about what it is that you need and find a way to make it happen. Engage with your first sergeant. Ask to change your PCM because they aren't treating you effectively. Engage with your commander if you need to. Find the people who can support and advocate for you and don't let them forget about you. Your leadership owes you advocacy if you've in any way earned it. If you don't get support from your leadership, go through someone else. There are whole organizations devoted to advocating for members who aren't getting their needs met, just find them. Ask about them. Make the calls. Exhaust all your options.

It sucks. It's stressful and it's hard and it's exhausting. But it's what I did and it's paying off.
