Good morning, Since starting my IRILO I decided I would start documenting my timeline here at Cannon.

Sept 2023 - Referred to AMRO board.
Dec 8th - Initial RILO Notification.

Sept 2023 - Referred to AMRO board.
Dec 8th - Initial RILO Notification.
April 2024 - STILL WAITING ON NARSUM.

*I get the MEB is a very fortunate circumstance to be in benefits wise but damn, my PCM has 7 other NARSUMs to write before mine and my EAS is September smh. Love NM the land of entrapment.

That's insane that that is taking so long, best of luck to you!

My answer to everything is the Patient Advocate lol. I went and she also happened to be a PEBLO. She had a meeting with my PCM and my NARSUM was complete in a few days.

As you can already tell, your timeline is not normal. For reference, my initial IRILO notification was December 21, 2023. I have my last VA exam next week and I expect to have orders in June or July.

Hi MrsG,

You here at CAFB as well? And yea I have been in pretty frequent touch with the PEBLO with little luck at pushing that date up.

I'm not a Cannon but another small base that is quite similar.

Update, PCM has 2 more NARSUM to write! Crazy that I’ve been waiting since November 2023 to get this close. Was supposed to separate in September but I don’t see that happening unless I’m cleared for duty..

I'm so sorry this has been the case for you. Since you are likely going through a MEB, you are eligible for Air Force Wounded Warrior. My Recovery Care Coordinator has been instrumental in pushing my timeline along. This has included speaking to my PCM. Here is the link to the AFW2 Referral. You can refer yourself.

I understand if you would rather separate in September versus wait an extra 6 months for a MEB. Make that clear with your PCM if you haven't already. Same for the Commander Impact Statement (CIS).

UPDATE:

Unfortunately the most beneficial route me and my family is to let the MEB take it's course and hope for the best outcome. A.K.A <30% DOD, 100% VA

I believe you are doing the right thing. Fight for what is right. An extra six months of duty can change the outcome of combat related compensation, DoD disability retirement amount, and years of service computation. If your retirement is based on the highest 36 months, your lowest pay in 2021/2022 will weigh heavily on the highest months in 2024 and early 2025. Every month counts to provide you and your family a higher retirement income. Therefore, the more months of active service you achieve in 2024 and early 2025, will give you more retirement based upon years of service, DoD percentage, and possibly combat related compensation.

*** UPDATE ***
June 25 2024 - CIS Received and signed * Commander concurs that SM should not be retained *

Next we wait for it to be reviewed by AFPC for a fit or unfit determination if I'm correct.

It's crazy to think I have been waiting since December to just to get to this stage... Hopefully its all smooth rolling from here!

I agree! Expect to be starting C&P exams within a month or less. Start looking at the DBQs for your referred condition(s) since those are what get you to retirement.

*** June 28, 2024 CIS came back from AFPC due to PEBLO providing outdated document ***

This whole process has been a headache, I have spent 6 months waiting to even get my NARSUM and CIS to be sent to AFPC, let alone I will be waiting another 6 months just to finish everything else barring any more issues which seems to be common here...

Thanks for coming to my TED talk, take care!

July 10, 2024. PEBLO Called stating AFPC is requesting to put me on a MED hold. Wonder if this means they are planning to do a full MEB. Should find out in the next few days.

Woohoo! You should be contacted by a MSC soon! Start preparing for those C&P exams coming up.

July 15th, 2024 - Spoke With MSC, 19 Claims total. (A few are long shots).
July 17th, 2024 - Leidos QTC Scheduled Exams (6 Total) All starting 30+ days from now.
