Goodluck! My package got sent up may 8th, think its too early to email my MSC and ask for any type of update?

Glad your MSC is willing to tell you... anything! Mine just refers to PEBLO who refuses to speak to me until findings are back. You're about 3 weeks behind me. Is there anything worrying you about your process?

@Larsoc:
Congratulations on your retirement! Go over your rating decision, DBQs, and medical records. Follow up with new claim to achieve VA 100 percent within first year after retirement. You may be able to achieve a 100 percent VA rating from the date you retired.

It appears your case moved through really quickly. What could you attribute that to? You're talking only <40 days in the MEB phase and ~50 days with the PEB, that tracks about 2x as fast as what I've seen from other cases.

Yeah, it has gone really fast i couldn't really tell you why. I did 2 cycles of limdu and was told from the day I got injured I would end up on a med board but i kept pushing it off because I wanted to try to stay in so i don't know if that has anything to do with it or they have just sped things up recently

My 2nd cycle ends 11AUG24, and I need to make it to 18FEB25 for 20 years. I think I'll be ok, but might have to stall in order to make my time.

If you haven't done so already apply for retirement. If your retirement is approved they may not push you into IDES.

Unfortunately, I'm in a critical designator and grade, so they won't accept a retirement request from me at the moment. Oh the joys... I just have to let this play out.

Rekmor:

You talked to your leadership and they denied your request for a retirement date one year from today? If you are in a critical position, then you shouldn't have a problem extending beyond 20 years. What was leadership rationale?

I should preface all this that I'm a Navy LDO. I don't want to go too much deeper than that as it would be pretty easy to identify me since there aren't very many.

At any rate, this decision is held is higher than the command's level. The command has seen what I've been going through, they've had to accept many limitations and they've been incredibly supportive. I do what I can to support the mission but unfortunately, the designator and AQDs I carry mean that unless I'm going to be medically released, they wouldn't accept a resignation or retirement unless it was after my next tour.

Thanks for the transparency. It makes sense. I understand. We are here to support all service members. We want you to achieve 20 years AFS. You are less than 9 months to achieve 20 AFS. Why not IDES? When should a service member request permanent limited duty (PLD)? What is the latest on PLD?

Larsoc:
Congratulations! Look at your zero percent ratings and a few 10 percent ratings you think you can get an increase for your next claim. Don't relax yet. Take these 60 days and thoroughly go over your rating decision. You can possibly achieve a 100 percent rating with an effective date of August 31, 2024. Good luck.

Larsoc:
Your exact rating is somewhere between 85 and 94. Develop a low risk strategy to achieve 95. The zero ratings are low risk so you can't lose trying to get an increase in those areas to achieve 95 percent.

Yeah, i am at 94 and I have migraines rated at zero so that's my plan of attack. How would I go about getting that rating up before I get out? Do i just file a claim on VA.gov?

Yes you can file at VA.gov or you can mail it in. You can file for an increase for migraines. One prostrating migraine a month should equate to 30 percent. Is the information accurate in the DBQ and rating decision? Make sure to inform PCM the duration, the number of prostrating migraines you have a month, and limitations of daily activities. Do the same during your next claim examination. You will be successful.
