Hello,

I was placed on a MEB/PEB 3 weeks ago for PTSD. I have submitted my medical records to my MEBLO and have upcoming VA appointments. Today when I went to see my doctor they stated that they are going to cancel the MEB. Reason stated was "You will get out sooner this way, not past your EAS". Is this possible for them to cancel it once it is started? If not, is there any documentation that states this? Thanks ahead of time!

Was it your MEB doc or a psych doc? If it was MEB doc I dunno the process on that, they possibly have to have a board convene to remove you? If it was a "normal" doc that has nothing to do with MEB, they can reccomend a removal, but it is still upto the MEB docs... Besides if your VA appointments are set, your on MEB and in the IDES. Sounds like the doc you saw is trying to save the military money and keeping you from extending... Contact your Ombudsman immediately!!!

Contact your Ombudsman immediately!!!

I agree, get your Ombudsman involved asap. A MEB cancellation in this case will provide no positive outcome for you (if you were planning to get out initially and not stay on active duty), sounds like they might be trying to just let your slip away and not have to compensate you. Make sure you don't let that happen and you get all the care necessary.

It was my psych doctor, stated casually during an appointment. Spent my whole time debating why that was a short sighted thing to do at this point. I think it was the head doc in MH that made the call though and not mine. I have an appointment with my MEBLO today and will ask/talk to them more information I suppose. Thanks for the help.
