Chronic Pain MEB Rating?

Finally after fighting the USAF medical system, I am up for a MEB with a diagnosis of Chronic Pain. Trouble with that is that I don’t see any ratings for just Chronic Pain. As of right now I cannot walk without a cane and cannot lift more than 5 lbs. I also have trouble sleeping from the pain that I am constantly in. I am trying to plan for the future for me and my family. Also what’s the pros and cons with the severance pay?

I also was found with same diagnosis and they offered 10% . I'm currently at fpeb. I am attempting for an extension. My orthopedic Dr wants nerve studies done. Not sure they will go for it. Also got diagnosed with type2 diabetes recently. So I am fighting to have that included..

All my extremities have become numbed. I have no feeling what so ever from the knees down of both legs and from the shoulders down of both arms. I use the cane so that I don’t fall down when my legs give out. I have been fighting these symptoms since July 2006. I just keep being told to take some muscle relaxers and got to physical therapy. I have been 11 years this past Jan. As of right now I have not type of condition other than chronic pain. I was being looked at for Thoracic Outlook Syndrome. I truly think that I have Fibromyalgia but since I don’t fit all the symptoms my PCM doesn’t think that I have it. My PCM told me that he is going to try to get me full retirement and 60% disability but I know it’s not up to him and I know that I will more than likely just get a severance pay and a handshake if I am lucky. I have done the nerve test and they all come back normal.

Get a civilian dr opion before ipeb. Watch and read papers carefully there's one in the package from the meb where u wave that right. I know because I messed it up

Trouble with that is that I am stationed at Kadena and a civilian dr isnt an option.

You'd likely be rated under an analogous code for neuralgia (8520?). The key to a maximum rating is to ensure your symptoms are adequately documented to MATCH the verbiage in the VA Schedule.

Sciatic nerve.

8520 Paralysis of:

Complete; the foot dangles and drops, no active movement possible
of muscles below the knee, flexion of knee weakened or (very
rarely) lost....................................................................................................... 80
Incomplete:
Severe, with marked muscular atrophy............................................................ 60
Moderately severe .......................................................................................... 40
Moderate......................................................................................................... 20
Mild ............................................................................................................ 10

If your doctor really wants to help, make sure he documents all your symptoms adequately and also includes range of motion measurements.

Thanks for the response VAJumper. I looked at the ratings and I don’t have any paralysis of the legs. I can still move them. I just can’t feel them.
