Chronic Residuals for VASRD 5002 Rheumatoid Arthritis

Good evening.

I have a question about VASRD 5002, specifically the chronic residuals. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis, and I have strong assumption it will be rated 5002 due to the medication and all of my records saying "active disease". Xrays and MRI's with the reports prove it too.

I am not at the rating stage yet, however, I am preparing and would like to know about the "painful motion" aspect. I hope these questions help out others too.

My two concerns are:

1.While doing the examination, I have read that you should say "ow" and display signs of discomfort while moving. Is this the key to this examination? And is this the only criteria for it? I have a limp some days, but I have conditioned myself to not say "ow" at everything. I was raised to be "tough", and I hate being called "old man" at work when I'm only 28, lol.

2. I have read different forums, guides, and other sites and cannot locate the maximum possible rating for the VASRD 5002 chronic residuals rating, nor am I sure about which joints are rated separately. I understand the 5003 Degenerative Arthritis is rated maximum 20%, even if its your whole body. But under VASRD 5002, are both hands, both feet, etc. rated separately at 10%? And if so, does anyone know the highest possible percentage resulting from this? (assuming all joints, entire body has painful motion).

Any help with this would be appreciated. I literally hurt everywhere, although I am kind of "used" to it. I just want to be sure I don't get ripped off, but I don't want to lie either; if you know what I mean.

The only part I can answer is that if both hands or feet were rated they would be rated separately and another 10% added for "bilateral factor". I was rated 40% per leg for residuals of Myasthenia Gravis and bilateral factor was applied. vA math is funky but basically a 10% per foot for example would end up like this: 10% + 10% + 10% (bilateral) = 27%, which rounds up to 30%.

Thanks tony292. Even to know starting out 30% for that is great.

I got 100% for painful motion on full body RA. 20% on 2 joints (Due to surgery) and 10% on 18 (17 for VA) Joints with 9 Bilaterals. I calculated 96% for AF and 95% for VA for the RA alone. (I also had 50% for depression).
