Counseling after PEB process????

We are now down to the wire.....our son's finding should be in next week. I spoke to him tonight and I am afraid the stress is getting to him. He has been on base for almost 300 days now at MCRD. Like he said he is in boot camp hell. Being a recruit for 300 days instead of three months is taking its toll. Is there something I should do when he gets home to help him with the transition from military life to civilian life. He said that he will just need some down time and things will be fine. He has a plan to go to college and get his degree. I just want to be supportive and help him in whatever he needs. This has been the hardest year of our life. First we thought he was going to be a Marine like his older brother. Then he got hurt and was paralyzed from the knee down on his right leg. To now where he has regained some movement of the foot but still has hard time running and walking for distance. It has really be an emotional ride. Are there programs that I should be looking at that will help him when he get home? I truly would not of made it without everyone here on this forum. Thank you for all the support. Always in our prayers.

I'm in rsp with your son... it's tough but we all help eachother out. We're hearing rumors of possibly getting home awaiting orders. Try not to worry too much about your son I know I wouldn't want my parents to worry...we're all in the same boat. The VA will offer him anything he needs, including counseling when he gets out. We've all been having loved ones call a congressman, if you want try that. Our arguement is that they cannot keep a recruit longer than 180 days... therefore he's a marine or civilian...reguardless of which we should be treated a little better. Hope this helps.
