I made it to 20 years and 8 days Active Duty after surviving a MEB in 2011/2012

Ebenefit's states "Decision Notification Sent". So I back door'd the system through Ebenefits/documents while waiting for the brown envelope to arrive and found documents which state the following:

Gross Benefit Amount $3010.06
Net Amount Paig $1,175
Effective Date December 1, 2014
Combined Evaluation 100% Totally and Permanently disabled due to tour service connected disabilities.

MY QUESTION IS: do I need to contact DAV/VA or DFAS to ensure that my CRDP is put into place because as it reads now VA NET is only $1175 which is the balance of $3010 after DOD/DFAS Retirement pay of the Monthly $1835. Or will all of this sort it self out when I receive the brown package in the US mail.

DFAS is supposed to automatically sort it out for you.

Source: FMR 7b, chapter 64, para 6403

it says that if it doesn't start send a letter to:
DFAS, U.S. Military Retirement Pay, P.O. Box 7130, London, KY 40742-7130.

1.) Thank you very much for the information as so much information could and should be laid out in one single summary of reasonable expectations IMO...

2.) I will research the following also but, I am 100% Permanent and Totally disabled. does this mean I "Will be awarded SSD if I file and any Idea how long this process may take?

3.) I am just learning that the $18,060.00 back pay could be paid as installments in addition to taking up to 2 years. WOW! Are there any other surprises I should be aware of?

I am so fortunate and grateful for all I have learned from this Forum and the SUPPORT given when I was down and out going through hell (my MEB Eval and Return to Service to finish 20 AD for CRDP) in 2011-2012. I do in fact plan to become more active here and be an asset to this entire community.

Very respectfully, Never Surrender.

100% P&T doesn't actually speak a great deal to employability. It does speak to level of disability, but there is more that goes into it, mainly what skills you have. I.e. if you have a restriction that limits you to sedentary work you'll also want to show you don't have to skills to do that type of work. You may have limitations that make even sedentary work unrealistic. The criteria for 100% VA and unemployability are different, and even a VA determination of unemployable isn't enough to get an easy SSDI win. Having the conditions well documented by the VA helps alot down that path though.

SSDI usually gives an answer in less than 6 months, I think 3 months would be average. The problem is an appeal being required is normal. I have heard enough stories of it taking 2 years to finally get it awarded that I'd consider that normal. The good chaplain got his awarded in 3 months. There are a good many very detailed posts about what people have learned from the process, but its still something where a lawyer is virtually required, even in cases that appear obvious to a layman.

CRDP is taxable, so you may be surprised with the tax rate when you receive the back pay. Back pay is generally taxed at a higher rate and you have to wait until return time to get it sorted out. Only other surprise I can think of.
