Good morning I'm currently waiting on compensation amount from crsc.
I was a Sgt with 6 years and 9 months
100% va receiving 4400
60% army medically retired(2016) waved retired pay and currently rated 70% crsc
Spouse and 6 kids.
Two question how much should I receive and am I entitled the 6 years back pay

Although you have a CRSC rating of 70%, you will not receive the dollar amount associated with that rating.

Based on the limited info you provided, your CRSC will be:
—6.75 active duty months x 2.5% = 16.88% longevity multiplier
—Average high three base pay x 16.88% = longevity portion of retired pay and your CRSC ceiling

notes:
1. You can determine your current high three base pay by getting the gross amount of retired pay on your most recent DFAS RAS.
That gross amount divided by 60% = current value high three
2. Your CRSC approval document will show the effective date for retroactive pay
3. The estimate info assumes 6.75 years ALL active duty

Thanks for the response. Where on the award letter does it show effective retro pay?

High 3 2700 so I've calculated that crsc should be around $450
If you used my suggestion for determining high three, that results in a current year high three after COLA increases in prior years.

In other words, the amounts for previous years would be less for a longevity calculation.

The CRSC approval letter will show effective dates, and will not state "your effective date for back pay is..."

Crunch these numbers

AD 17 years and 5 months
100% va receiving 3971
40% army medically retired(2023) waved retired pay and currently rated 80% crsc
Spouse and 1 kids.
RAS 2173.00
No redux

I answered your question at the other post you made.

I'm sorry, wasn't meant that way.
Hello @Jh8473

1. 2173/43.55% = 4990 ave high three (longevity is higher % than DoD percentage)
2. 17.42 yr x 2.5% = 43.55% longevity multiplier
3. 4990 x 43.55% = 2173 longevity amount
4. 2,212.15 is the approved CRSC amount from VA comp tables
5. Based on the info you provided, your payable CRSC is approximately 2173.

Note: for blended retirement, 2% is used instead of 2.5%

Just contacted dfas, they informed me that my audit was complete and have been submitted for review, currently in payroll queue, can you possibly elaborate on what this means as far as timeline for backpay. Thanks

By law your CRSC backpay will only go back 6 years at most, up to your military retirement date.

Basically, you can collect up to 6 years of backpay for CRSC, but if it's been less than 6 years since your retirement date, the backpay will only cover you up to that retirement date.

If it's been more than 6 years since your retirement date, your back pay will (at most) go back 6 years from the date you applied for CRSC.

Hope that was helpful, and I welcome any of the mods to correct this if anything I said was inaccurate.

Cheers.

CRSC can be paid retroactive to a date that precedes the date of the application.

These statements are accurate:
"By law your CRSC backpay will only go back 6 years at most, up to your military retirement date."

"Basically, you can collect up to 6 years of backpay for CRSC, but if it's been less than 6 years since your retirement date, the backpay will only cover you up to that retirement date."

Ron

Note: The CRSC approval document will show the effective date.

Thanks for all your help @Roni i received my backpay yesterday. Your help is greatly appreciated. I have one last question. You mentioned my crsc ceiling will come from your equation. Which was correct. My question is : will increasing the percentage from 70 to 100 increase my monthly amount, requiring more backpay?

Hello,

Unfortunately, no.

The longevity amount is your CRSC ceiling.
