Hey guys... I am on transitional leave and just applied for CRSC. I was 60% Army, 90% VA.. the VA paperwork under all the conditions it says GULF WAR INCURRED. SO my question is, does the Army use that as its decision for CRSC. That would mean 90% CRSC? I am not totally understanding the CRSC. I have to get over 60% to even see a change in monthly income according to the DFAS Calculator.

They don't take any one thing as the determining fact. That is, unless it is a purple heart awarded injury. You have to use medical records, awards, sworn statements, your 199 and any other supporting documentation you have to link the injury to combat, hazardous service, or instrumentality of war. If your 199 shows a clear link, then they will award CRSC, if not they will deny.

You also will need to have final VA ratings, not your proposed ratings. So if you are in transitional leave, they are not going to adjudicate your application. They will either send it back, or hold it until the ratings are final. If you go back and search CRSC and my screen name, there is a thread that I made that described how I went about it start to finish.

Well I included my CAB award.. My Purple Heart is still pending. I sent my 199, and VA ratings.

The CAB will certainly help, as will the purple heart. They still need your final VA ratings which you will not get for 1 to a few months after your transitional leave is over and you have been discharged. That should give the purple heart enough time to be finalized as well.

Unfortunately, my Purple Heart is at Group level waiting to go to HRC. For some reason Group is holding on to it.. not certain if they will award it to me or not... I showed them the ARMY rating that shows TBI! And all the information linking it to Combat, sworn statements, and what not... still they cant seem to figure it out. Pretty sad.

I will keep my finger crossed for you and hope that somebody at group see's fit to push your award forward. If you have anymore questions about CRSC and the application process, you know where to find me.

Joe
