Date of disability

Hello everyone!
I did search but found nothing on this topic. So I am in my third med board and am wondering if I am found unfit is there any possibility to argue for my date of disability to be set coincident with those earlier boards where the navy found me fit. Biggest reasons are I would like to retroactively get my va funding fee back from my previous mortgage if possible. I have been told that’s possible if the date of disability retroactively precedes your closing date. Thank you as always for any info y’all may have!

I've never heard of anyone being successful with this because technically, you are not "disabled" the VA does their exams and says you are disabled. Even though the event that made you disabled happened while on duty, the title of disabled doesn't go into effect until it goes through the wickets.

Thank you!

Excellent answer by @Guardguy11

Speaking only of the effective date for payment of VA compensation and DoD disability retired pay:

--the earliest possible effective date is the day immediately following the day of separation from the military.
--in the case of VA compensation, the accrual of VA compensation is the first day of the month following the month having the effective date. Example: Effective date 13 December; first accrual of VA comp 1-31 January; first payment 1 February.
