ddd and i denied surgery

Hi I am currently starting the MEB process and have some questions. I have DDD at l4-l5 chronic lower back pain with sciatic symptoms that they recommended removing and fusion. I denied this surgery. What will happen since I denied the surgery and the Dr said he thinks it would have made it better and I might have been able to return to duty? Will this make my rating less? Also they said it had to be sent to the surgeon general because I denied it he could recommend admin separation. How possible is this?
Also I have a permanent p2 profile for chronic knee pain that was originally diagnosed as osteo chondritas. Will this be rated also?
Thanks in advance for your input.

I am currently going through the same situation as you are with the condition of your back, the only options for me are to get surgery or live with the condition. Not getting surgery didn't hurt my case with the MEB, i got TDRL and a fair rating. The main part of your rating will come from the ROM test. Hope this helps a little, if you have any questions let me know.

I had a back surgery for L5-S1 and I am healing fairly good. If you really need surgery you should have this surgery. Dont know about rating since it all depends on your range of movement (ROM),

Okay, having surgery should have absolutely no impact on the board’s decision. They will rate you based on your range of motion. They do not care if you flat out broke your neck. The rating is 100% ROM!
