I was medically separated July 2022 for type 1 diabetes rated at 20% Two months after I separated it got worse and now require 4 shots of insulin a day. I have a claim in now to increase it and if it get approved can I upgrade my honorable to medical retirement?

Unfortunately no. The good news is that you can get your treatment and medications through the VA for it since it is service connected. Also if the VA disability rate for that conditions increased you will get more compensation if that bumps up your overall VA disability rating.
