Does DEERs update automatically?

Tried to setup Tricare today and DEERs is still showing me as active so I could not get enrolled in Tricare for retirees. I was expecting DEERs to be up todate, can I go to the DEERs office and have my status changed?

If your going to Tricare Standard you are rolled over from Prime automatically

Hmm, I experienced similar issues as such my DEERS information wasn't updated upon official placement onto military TDRL.

Indeed, we had to travel to the nearest military installation's ID Card Facility for DEERS updating. The military ID Card customer service agent had to manually input a statement into DEERS stating that I was medically retired as of 27 May 2014 so that TRICARE enrollment could start!

That said, I was on military transition leave for 91 days albeit DEERS didn't update once during that entire period in reference to my particular situation; no worries, it was finally adjudicated properly!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."
