Ok, So I have been told by my PEBLO that my NARSUM is getting routed for the 3 Docs to sign. At this point I have not done the 3 day TAP class. Not really my fault appointments keep getting in the way. My PEBLO said she can not send my NARSUM to the PEB untill I have completed the 3 day TAP class. Is that a MEB rule??

I don't know if it is now. I haven't gone through it, and I am just waiting for my 199 to be signed by the PEB. May be a service, base, or local command administrative policy.

TAP is a Manditory requirement. You need to schedule it and turn it in to Peblo. TAP is very important towards your transition back to civilian life.

I have it scheduled for end of oct, if the PEBLO cant forward my paperwork till I get it done then it might get rescheduled. I have NO support from my CC now, and I do not forsee any in the future. So I have to do what I can to get to Nov 30 2013. My 20 year Mark. I am going to every appt on time, continuing to go to therapy, and take my meds. I WILL NOT let the Army put me out before then without a fight. Oh and I do meen to do it legaly. I work everyday from 0730 to 1630 so NOBODY can say I am not earning my paycheck. I did not ask to be in this situation. I can say I am NOT better now than when I asked for help. I am WORSE. I work at the SFAC and dang near everyday I meet a soldier who is dang near finished with there board and just found out about the SFAC. IT IS A COMPLETE FAILER ON THERE CHAIN OF COMMAND FOR NOT MAKING 100% SURE THERE SOLDIERS KNOW ABOUT IT. I WILL NOT BE OR LET ANY SOLDIER I KNOW GOING THROUGH THE SAME STUFF AS ME BE PUSHED ASSIDE WITHOUT THE BENIFITS DO. WE WOULD ALL RATHER BE HEALTHY. I have given 18y 10m to service to the Marine Corps and Army. Three fn years in Iraq, and now not only do I face the pain of surving when my soldiers did not, and all the sh-- that goes along with damn near being killed myself. I have to face this fn med board, and some PEBLO who gives lip service, but could care less. It is a fn shame ANY soldier has to face this uncertinty, and be treated with disrespect and belittlement for asking for help. No wonder 187 soldiers have killed themselves this year. Da-- sory for the rant.

We all feal your pain. A buddy of mine has 18 years 4 months. His Chain of Command won't approve his COAD. DOD don't care about Soldiers or family when it comes to saving a buck.

If it gets to the point I will call congresmen, senators, the news. I can only hope it doesnt come to that. I bet big Army would not like the negative publisty they would get if it got out the Army was not letting soldiers get to there 20 year mark when they were less than 12 months from it. Ill call and tell everybody I can. What I do know is that DA and DA only can aprove or disaprove a COAD. The unit can give a not recomended, but IT MUST go to DA for a final verdict. I have been told by the director who I work for that she is being told that I am getting assinged to the Garision but until I have orders I cant trust in that. I have my fingers crossed. I would not have to worry to much about COAD if that happens.

The only thing that is required in the AF is the pre-sep brief. TAP and DTAP are recommended, but not required. Don't know about the Army, but thought it was the same. I have already been found unfit and my package sent from PEB to VA for ratings..and the only thing that I have accomplished has been the pre-sep, and even that wasn't required until I find out I'm retiring. However, I have scheduled TAP and DTAP the first week of October because I already know which way this is going.;)

Army you have to do TAP before the NARSUM can be sent up, it is sorta a new rule because it went into effect when IDES kicked in over a year ago!;)

Ok, understood. If TAP is required pre NARSUM, it just seems like a waste in the event you are found fit if you ask me. I guess the reasoning is so that the sm has it complete (staying ahead of the curve) in the event they are found unfit (just a guess). I will never understand why all branches can't conduct actives like this in similar, standardized fashion....everything else is morphing towards joint ops.

I just thought that I would go though it when I hit TRANSPOC.

Bad idea eagleone, you will be rushing around quite a bit once you hit that list. You should do the classes now to keep yourself from stressing about losing 3 days of clearing time. Also another day of you losing time for the DTAP class, which has a massive amount of valueable information for disabled vets.

Grizz, Thanks for the info. This is one of the issues with the CBWTU, somethings will fall through the cracks. I may make an appointment with Hill AFB, between now and TRANSPOC. Meeting with PEBLO (phone) today for 199. It will be nice to know something.

My base (AF) told me I had to do Pre-Sep and TAP and it was required when first starting the MEB process...Who freaking knows? Seems like every base has their own rules.
