Early Release From Duty

How have those of you who have been released from duty early.. pulled it off?

I've read and talked with people who have been able to talk with the commanders to let them take their remainder of time off to handle home-needs, moving, etc. I could REALLY use that, which i know is highly unlikely i'll be able to make it work. But, its worth a shot.

Thoughts?
 
It doesn't hurt to ask. It all depends on your Commander and what type of Soldier you are. When I was in command I had no issues with soldiers taking care of their personal affairs once the unfit results came back and I knew the soldier was not going to appeal so once that 199 was signed by the soldier I will let them take care of business. they will still have to show up to formation in the morning for accountability and close out via phone with their PSG at the end of the day. At the end of the day the Military will still function without you.
