Ebenefits Question and confusion

Just today I logged on to Ebenefits for some strange reason thinking it would change after a few months of being medically discharged...and voila! It did. But it is confusing.

I have the following listed in historical claims, which was open previously:

08/10/2012
Compensation
09/20/2013Appeal is Possible
Decision Notification Sent
View Board of Veterans’ Appeals Sta

And now this is in the open claims section:

Date of ClaimEstimated Claim Completion Date StatusClaim TypeUpdatesActions
06/21/201310/16/2013 to 11/14/2013PREPARATION FOR DECISIONCompensation
Status Has Changed

So, what am I to think? It says I am to expect correspondence via mail for the first claim which was the one that was open for a long time.

Please advise.

It means the VA has started the FINAL Rating part. While going through the MEB you get PRELIMINARY Ratings, the VA cannot use the Prelim Ratings, they revisit the claim and verify they assigned the ratings correctly. After about 3-4 months they will notify that the ratings are completed and will send you a big manilla envelope that explains why they rated they way they did along with the award letter.

I already got my preliminary ratings back during the IDES process a few months ago before I got medically retired (June 21st). So am I to assume that this is my FINAL ratings now?

Yes they are currently working on your final ratings!
