Im here looking for any help and hopefully to get an answer before I make my decision next week Monday (Oct 31 2016). I was going through a CH 14-12C since May of this year for Forgery (Appointment Slips) and its the stupidest thing I have ever done within the 10 years I have been in. Im currently on Rear D and they have just told me last week that they will not go through with the chapter and just let me ETS (Nov 24 2016). I went to my EBH today and the Doctor diagnosed me with moderate PTSD and she is recommending me for an MEB after I told her about my situation with the chapter not going through and that I ETS next month (Nov 24). I have asked my past leadership and military family for advice and most of them recommended to go through with the MEB. If I do go through with it, then it will extend me to another 5-8 months and Im here to ask all the current and former service members for help. Thank you and God Bless

Note: I can take the truth. Please be brutally honest!

I'd go with the MEB, BUT that is on the condition that no more shenanigans occur. If you chose to ETS you can still make a claim with the VA, but the process is much slower.

You can be extended for the purpose of the MEB, the career counselor will do it. You command should not interfere. Just lay low and do everything that you are supposed to.

I was in the same boat, better to extend and get paid while you are going through all those appointments, then to ets, find a job and have to tell them you can go in at times for mandatory apps. Also if you are under 30 % you get severance pay which you won't see if you just ets, more it's retirement with Tricare. Way better to do the MEB. I would fight tooth and nail to get that, it will make your life easier in the long run.

Thank you for all the good advice and that my doctor started the MEB process today. I was just a little worried about doing cause of the chapter 14-12C and that I was flagged for H/W in which if they chapter me for that I would not stop the MEB but be processed together and it will be up to the CG or higher to decide which one they will take (correct me if Im wrong). I need to loose the fat and stay clean for hopefully another 4-6 months. Thanks again!

you should lose the weight but the height and weight does not affect your medboard. As long as you are not flagged for any disciplinary actions you will be fine.
