So I was in the process for getting evaluated for PTSD and my psychologist diagnosed me with F54 Psychological Factor Affecting Other Medical Conditions. In my notes he states "A brief, targeted assessment of posttraumatic-type sxs at this appt did not suggest full criteria for PTSD criteria A-E were met in content but not severity; these results support continued CBT, ANS-regulation, and BBTI intervention at this time." This assessment was based on the PCL-5 which I scored 31. Does this mean that I wont be able to claim my mental health issues when I go to file a claim with the VA?

The provider's statement is confusing. Either the provider or your record document you were administered a PCL-5.

Your score was 31. The documentation for the PCL-5 says,
"A total score of 31-33 or higher suggests the patient may benefit from PTSD treatment. The patient can
either be referred to a PTSD specialty clinic or be offered an evidence-based treatment for PTSD such as
Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), or Eye Movement Desensitization and
Reprocessing (EMDR)."

In short the examiner is saying, you should be in treatment still for the PTSD the examinenr confirmed.

Yeah im still active duty and that is from my military mental health provider. So im hoping the VA sees that when im doing the DBQ its rated properly.

The VA C&P ratier will consider what is documented, but makes an independent decision.
