I have been in a WTU for 1 year and I have noticed a difference in the treatment of Combat and Non-Combat injured Soldiers, Not the WTU itself but the agencies put in place to care for the warriors. I know of non-combat injured (TBI)warriors that were denied TBI treatment at the tbi clinic because they did not recieve the brain injury in combat. One question isn't this wrong? a Soldier is a Soldier and we should take care of them no matter what am I right? just want to get views on this if possible.

Since when does a Soldier get denied treatment for TBI? And you say they differentiate between combat and non-combat Soldiers in who gets their TBI treated? That's so totally wrong! Crips! We have cooks, drivers, fuelers, admin - they can all get TBI over there. I was outside the wire many, many, times (admin in a unique MOS) and I ran with many different types of units.

IEDs, bullets, mortars and all the rest do NOT distinguish between combat and non-combat. It can happen to anyone. At anytime. Even inside the wire.

What post are you at? I'd be raising the roof on this - in a nice way of course. If you have Soldiers being denied treatment for this reason only, this smells fishy and it just ain't right.
Have you spoken to your leadership about this? Have the Soldiers who were denied care spoken to their leadership about this?
 
They want the Soldiers to put it off until they get out and then go to Congress with it. I personally experienced this at the TBI clinic, the guy asked me who sent me there? I said my NCM, He said we don't treat non combat TBI here, I said why am I here then? He said he didn't know, I said just sign my paper work and send me on my way I got a little upset with him and he said let me see if we can get you in, I told him don't do me any favors just sign the papers, He signed them. I went and told my NCM and she said they were trying to get that changed, so why did she send me there if she knew they would not treat my TBI? It knocked me back 3 months I got depressed, all I hear is your case is unique BS!!!! Now I went thru my NCM to file TSGLI and I got the 3rd degree, she ask me why do you think you should get TSGLI? do you have a brain injury? I got angry as Hell, I have dsm iv diagnosis about 6 of them I am on ssdi, occipital lobe lesions, frontal, spinal cord lesions, migraines, black spots in vision right eye. I do feel they have a problem with Non-Combat injured Soldiers and I have experienced it first hand. Sorry venting no psych help either.
 
this shit drives me crazy! i would get on the horn w/one of the local politicians. if you don't document all of these issues as you can, even if they seem petty to you. sometimes all it takes is a pretty little letter-had from some congressperson or senator and magic things start to happen :) don't let it slide. even if something happens as you are walking out the door, it'll benefit the next person wlaking in the door. stay strong brother! if you need any help w/filing a congressional let me know. good luck and keep us posted.
 
I appreciate it robs42, we just had a warrior file a congressional because his narsum kept getting screwed up like 6 times at the DCCS level and then get sent back he got tired of it within 1 week his packet cleared DCCS and he is clearing post next week. Mine is the same way just getting the run around here but was trying to be professional, with the meb, tbi clinic, tsgli, false statements in medical history I am ready to file something.
 
I decided before I drop a Congressional I would give my WTU Chain of Command 1 more chance to get this taken care of and they have scheduled a meeting on the 19th of FEB with all of my DR's, NCM, PCM and MEB office also tomorrow I am going to the MEB outreach and they are going to look at my case also, hopefully things will get done finally if not I have a Congressional ready to go to the DC office of my State official. A word of advice when you start the MEB process go ahead and schedule an appointment with the MEB OUTREACH I waited over a year to go and see them and I am paying the price for it, when we serve we think we will get taken care of and we sometimes let them take control of our care but if you want to be taken care of in the long run you need to start at the beginning of the MEB by getting informed on the ins and outs of the MEB/PEB process. Also spread the word about this site it will help so many people make better choices during this stressful time.
