Finally got my projected retirement date! But I have questions.

Hey, everyone! I received my projected retirement date of 5 July today. But I’m confused.
I want to be out before then.
I have 38 days of leave for terminal.
I don’t want to take the 20 days of permissive TDY.
My PEBLO said to count back from my retirement date, factor in my terminal leave, 20 days of PTDY, and 15 days of out-processing leave, which puts me at 23 April.
Is there any way I can waive my PTDY and get out sooner? The PEBLO said this date is final. I don’t understand since it’s just a “projected” date.

You can decline PTDY. You should have control of that since they aren't going to force you to take it. You are allowed to sell a total of 60 days of leave during your career. So unless you sold a ton of leave previously you should be able to sell it instead of take it for terminal leave. The 5 July date is a NLT date. Its the latest date you can retire. You can definitely retire sooner.

Thank god. I want the hell out already. The PEBLO just made it super confusing.

I’ve never sold any leave, always took it so I’m safe there!

I can understand wanting to get out. However, even if you take PTDY and terminal leave, you're essentially out. You're not going to be called in to work or deploy. And you can move wherever you want.

Agreeing here with Boulder. From another perspective the PTDY and terminal leave will still give you your active duty pay while you move and get settled in. It's just something to think about.

I have 40 days of leave, my plan is get my EAS date, ride up close to it take my 20 days of PTAD and sell my leave just. Definitely would take the 20 free days though that's another check at the least that you get for doing nothing.

Keep in mind. When you sell your leave, you only get paid your basic pay for those days you sell back (BAH and BAS not included).

Exactly, that leave helps you transition to civilian life. You have the autonomy to move wherever you want, start a new job, etc. and still receive active duty pay while on leave.
