Finally Received Findings

So I have finally received my findings. You can view them below in my signature.

I am not really happy with the DOD rating. I had a mental health addendum submitted for the board to consider as well as my left knee which was my original unfitting condition. The board did not concur with the VA percentage (even though the VA gave a 70%). It is what it is.

I will take my severance pay and close this chapter of life and move on. As much as I would love to stick around and fight for 30% or higher on the DOD side, I have an excellent opportunity that comes with a pretty high start out salary for just transitioning out of the Marine Corps. There is a timestamp on the offer however, so I am not going to jeopardize losing it by pulling my hair out with the government for 4 to 6 more months. Enough damage has been done for now.

I do have a couple of other conditions to add onto my VA claim however, so I am hoping that the process will go smoothly and bump up my VA percentage up to 100%.

Any questions or comments are more then welcome. Especially if anyone has any insight on the process of receiving an EAS date ASAP (like sooner the 3 weeks they keep saying it'll take) or changing what MMSR-4 decides.

I'm married with 2 crumb catchers (9 and 5 y/o) to feed as well. They just finished up with school here in San Diego. I need them to be good and settled by the time they get ready to start back in August. I received and email this morning from HR at my new job saying they have pushed my new start date to July 18.

Honestly, my wife doesn't like Tricare. More then likely, she will sign my kids and I on under her health insurance. Dental, vision and life insurance premiums for myself will be paid for by my employer. So, all in all, I hear you guys about the free Tricare and base privileges. However, I am content with my findings and am just ready to close this chapter of life and move forward. My wife and kids are just as much if not more then ready to move on as I am.

This forum is one of the most informative and close knit communities around when it comes to the IDES/PEB. I'd go so far as to say that it is the only one. Keep the good work going and the information flowing!

I feel you man. I met with the IDES attorney today, and am kinda leaning towards your decision, too.

I'm just not sure if the tricare is worth the fight, man.

If you make it to 100% at some point, you could qualify for CHAMPVA (healthcare) for your dependents. Also chapter 35 Education Benefits for them as well.
