I had my Formal Medical Board via Telephone Conference on Nov 29th because the VTC was down. Last week the PEBLO report said pending, this week it says formal medical board rations pending. WTF does that mean? I am the only one to appeal and go to a formal board here in Hawaii and no one can answer my question. Please help. Thank you very much.

Board Started Feb 2010
Result Sep 5 of unfit and 70% VA and 10% sep pay
Formal Board Nov 29th 2010- Fighting 10%

Found out
The orginal was the VA recommended 30% for the Navy side and the Navy Took my Myofascial and Spine issues and added the spine as a Cat 2. I have upgraded to Fibromyalgia and problems with all 3 areas of my spine and tried to show the board the difference between the two. I did call the VA and they said I am stage 2 of 8 of the process. So we will see.

You are not alone... I am stationed in Hawaii (Navy) and went to the Formal Board in March and got my results in April. I was in the legacy program during that board. I didn't bother calling the PEBLO for updates. They 'should' contact you when the results are in. Do you stay AD while you wait for the VA to re-rate your conditions after the Formal Board? Due to my condition worsening I am now in the IDES program for my second med board. My second medbd was sent to DC on 23 Dec so I am curious how long it will take DC to determine fitness and for the VA rate me if found unfit. Good Luck!

Navy Girl Blue,

What rating did the VA give your unfitting conditions? Did they rate the CAT II conditon?

With the telephone call being on Nov 29th my package just arrived at the VA on Jan 9 for re-rate and on Jan 11 the decision has already been made and they are preparing the paperwork. I am still staying AD my EAOS is next month and the PEBLO is getting me an extension through the PSD office. Were you in the pilot program to begin with? If so how did it get moved to IDES. My condition has got worse during the process also and I just sent in additional paperwork to support my claim. From the other people that I know in Hawaii even fit has been taking 4-6 weeks. I know someone that got one sent in Sept to DC and still at the VA.

I am not sure where you are attached to, but at Bldg 1 Shipyard they have a group of people that are part of a med board LIMDU group and we get together and talk about the process and other things that go along with it. If you need more information just send me a private message. Hope this helps.

The original was 30% and the Navy gave me the CAT II saying that they were related to each other even tho they were not and dropped it to 10% and severance pay. They tried saying my Spine issues were related to my Fibromyalgia. I appealed it and still awaiting the new rating. The attorney did a good job at telling the board that there was a difference between the two and explained the symptoms of each.

NavyGirlBlue,

Initially I was in Legacy which started July 2010. I was found Unfit and went to Formal board in March 2011 to fight for FIT so I can continue my service in the Navy. I didn't want to be medically separated. I received a Fit finding in April 2011. Unfortunately the next month I fell really ill and lost half of my kidney function. Due to the severe change in my prognosis my doctor decided I should go back through the medical board process. My IDES medical board started in Sep 2011. It was sent to PEB Dec 23rd 2011. My medbd will probably take awhile to rate considering I had 5 autoimmune diseases on there and they are all kidney rheumatology related. The issue with my medical board is that they will need to recognize each condition as its own distinct entity and not rope them all together. They cheat the service member when the just rope them all together at least for my case it would be very wrong. I have a feeling my case will go to Formal board again. I will be found Unfit for sure, I just want to get the rating I deserve. The group you mentioned sounds interesting. I wouldn't mind checking it out, how often do you guys meet?

Did you ask for a telephone conference? I'm stationed in Hawaii as well and just got my notification for FPEB on 21-Jun-2012 at the Navy Yard.
