Fort Bliss (Bipolar Disorder and Lower Back / Neck Pain)

The initiation of my process was a bit rocky and very disappointing, but I understand the politics of it all. My MEB was initially only for the bipolar disorder but luckily, I was already in the process of being seen for the other items and had a P3 for them as well, so they were included in my MEB. There hasn't been a whole lot done to actually fix my issues but there has been a massive amount of band aids applied which is why I'm actually looking forward to getting this closed out. I have 17 YOS as an army officer (half active duty/half reserves). My current timeline is as follows:

P3 Signed: 27NOV24
PEBLO Contact: 3DEC24
IDES Briefing: 5DEC24
MCS Contact: 30DEC24
C&P Exams: 8-10JAN25
DBQs Turned in: TBD
NARSUM: TBD

Why it is taking so long for my DBQs to be turned in is anyone's guess but I'm assuming it's because there were at least 25 conditions claimed and only one Dr doing to exam for most of them aside from audio. I'm hoping it's turned in soon so I can progress through this process. I've been hoping to complete at least one step each month except the PEB phase. I've already been told to expect long waits for that.

have you checked tricare online to see if they'e been uploaded?
if not, try tricare online > health record > documents.

Thank you so much. They were actually uploaded the same day I posted initially. There are quite a few in there and I received a call from both a medical and mental health provider informing me they were working on my NARSUM and it should be ready for review by Thursday, 6FEB25. Fingers crossed.

Im on a similiar time frame as you so I will be following closely. I am missing my DBQs from my physical exam as well. I called VES and they said my stuff was still under review with the examiner. I had my last appointment on the 22nd of January so I am hoping this time next week they are uploaded. My audio and MH dbq were uploaded really quick, its just this last one that is taking the longest.

I do believe that the examiner has up to 30 days to submit the exam to VES. And then VES has up to an additional 30 days to quality check the exam and send to the VA. So just keep that in mind.

Update

NARSUM Legal Review and Signature: 7FEB25

NARSUM Delay explanation: I was originally referred to the MEB for 3 conditions, but after my C&P exams and the review of my medical records from 17 YoS, they added a number of additional P3 profiles and listed them in my NARSUM as referred conditions for the PEB. I went from 3 to 8 so the delay definitely made sense. My PEBLO said he's been doing this for a while and has never seen that many P3s on one profile. The total MEB packet was nearly 300 pages, so I understand the delay now. I'm less worried about the percentage now with so many conditions and all the medical history in reference to them.

Now we're back to waiting for the PEB results.....

Congrats! I am a little over 3 weeks ahead of you in the process. You aren't going to be hearing from your PEBLO until they hear back from the VA. I have been calling the VA weekly, every Wednesday, just to make sure everything is still good and nothing has changed. I just like to be proactive. The last thing I want is for them to say, nope actually you need a second follow-up C&P exam or something like that.

*The VA representatives have always been very nice and helpful. Usually they just say something like, "We have everything we need, no additonal exams are being requested at this time. You are in Step 5 Decision Phase." I tell them thanks and follow-up every week. Takes 3-5 minutes but I like the peace of mind.

If you dont mind me asking when did your case go up to the PEB. Mine was sent up 23 Dec 24.

My NARSUM was signed on January 13th, 2025, and sent to the PEB on January 14th. You are about 3 weeks ahead of me in the process.

My buddy who signed his NARSUM 04 Dec 24 at Bliss just saw his claims close on the VA website
I have seen/heard from multiple people that they are finished with almost all November claims and are now working December cases. That fits the standard time and makes sense. I would expect February to be the month for NARSUMs signed in December. March should be for January 2025. *rough estimates*

Were you active duty? Cause I think the NG may not take other conditions into consideration

Did you have an expedited memo? Asking cause you were about two months behind me in the process and are done already and I am still sitting waiting to be rated by the VA.

I did not. I was actually trying to buy myself some more time and had a slew of conditions so there's clearly no science to the timeline. I got everything back two days after my claim closed on the VA app though.

Most impressive and congrats on it all working out quickly.
