What exactly does the OMBUDSMAN do? Has anyone ever heard of them actually helping and getting information? I have an appointment to day with one.

What exactly does the OMBUDSMAN do? Has anyone ever heard of them actually helping and getting information? I have an appointment to day with one.
Just talked to DAV... again same thing... "we don't know who you can talk to about this". I informed them of my situation, and that I was just trying to see if the VA has received anything from the PEB... and they have no clue what they are doing... I guess I just keep getting incompetent people

An Ombudsman is a middle-man civilian that works directly with the MEB office, PEB office, Hospital Commander, Hospital XO, Patient Advocacy, MEB Legal, and the Post Commander. They have access to information that they can access to help you with different issues from medical to legal. They are Army only from what I am tracking and there is at every WTB.

Did you contact the DAV in Tacoma as JMAC suggested? JMAC pleace PM EOD here the person's name you talked to that helped you out.
Ok so yesterday he signed his 199 and know I have read this but any idea what kind if time line we are looking at now. His PEBLO said he could start clearing his unit today? But really I'm lost I have never been in the military so I get a little lost in the acronyms!
4 weeks is what is being said. Some people have their orders in a week and some wait a couple months. Normally a month
Since he has signed and turned in his 199, if all goes well with his final paperwork (no delays/hiccups), then he will have about 90 days left.
Could be a little less - could be a little more. But he is at the end of the line now.

Ok so I'm looking at 30 to 90 days then? Sorry guys this is all a lot for me to understand! I really just need to figure out when I should put in my 2 week notice to my job and my roommate! You guys seem to know a lot and have been very helpful!
My EPEB status has changed to "Election" on 5 Nov on my written rebuttal. Anyone know what this means?
Trust him. He is very nice and helpful. With your SSN, he can look at your claim thru ePEB.

You have about 4 weeks until he gets on the transpoc list, a few days for the brief, and another 2 weeks after that brief to get his orders. Once he selects his leave dates, count backwards 14 business days from the start of leave and that is when he starts to clear.
Do you know what "Election" means on the EPEB? This is my status six weeks after submitting a written rebuttal to my IPEB.
The below is from the USAPDA website (I didn't know that USAPDA reviewed all appeals (formal or informal)):
Final approval authority for all PEB findings and recommendations rests with the USAPDA.

I think there has been a delay with the FT LEWIS PEB. I have not received my 199 yet and its been 3 weeks now since the proposed ratings were sent back to the PEB. How many others noticed this. Anyone proposed ratings back at JBLM and still waiting on the 199.
Once he gets his orders, you'll have 2 weeks formal notice left on the clock.
Don't sweat it. As long as he stays in contact with transitions, and keeps you in the loop, you should have 14 days to give formal notice.

I don't have a fit or unfit either EODStew24. I was told that I have to wait for the VA to do their prelims, then it gets sent back to the PEB. Once it is back at the PEB they do their ratings and put together the unfit or fit memo.
You just wait 2.5 months, I wait almost 5 months since PEB got my NARSUM and nothing....
Ok, now this is interesting, I already received my proposed ratings but not the 199 and now I go into EBENEFITS and my status goes from complete to gathering evidence. This makes no sense, how is that possible when the signatures from VA have already been completed.
