Fort Lewis PEB

I never said the site.. I just gave her the unfit memo and said I got it from someone else. I wouldn't rat out those who help. My PEBLO felt pretty stupid...didn't even know you got a prelim. Unfit memo.

I can see how my previous post seemed confusing. I was explaining where I got it, never told the peblo where though.

Be careful about what you tell a PEBLO about information that you got on this site. If someone on this site helped you, don't rat them out! Your PEBLO didn't need to know, and that is a good way to get a good-bubba in trouble. Your PEBLO already knows that he isn't doing his job.

If anything call his boss, and then tell him/her what the PEBLO is not doing. They don't need to know what others have done for you. In intelligence, you never burn a good source. :(

Yep, I too have been helped by a PEBLO on this site (God Bless him!) and I rubbed the fact that I got it in my PEBLO's face but I did not tell him how or where I got it from. It's sad that I have to do his job for him lol. If one PEBLO can help me...there's no excuse as to why he can't. He just chooses not to.

I was hoping that was the case, but it sounded otherwise. I really hope that you get your 199 before Christmas. Thanks for your service!

Thanks... me too, but I doubt it. I am frustrated because I have some pretty good jobs I have been referred to, and I want to take them, but can't until I can take terminal.

I am in your boat. I have a schedule A appointment letter and a couple federal internships are available, but I can't tell them when I can accept a position. They will wait until January, but not much longer.

My whinny-factor is quite high.

Eagleone is correct. I was going to give an ICE comment card for the PEBLO that is helping me out, but if I do that then I could get him in trouble for providing me information. My PEBLO hasn't been helping me either, but I will let her boss know after I am done signing my 199.

I am in the same situation and in negotiations with a company and I was told by my PEBLO that if you get an "Intent to Hire" memo from a company that is going to hire you, then the process can be expedited once it hits a certain stage. I want to say once the packet got to PDA.

I am not sure if this is 100% accurate due to inconsistencies from their office.

I hope that this is accurate and that it works out for you.

Hi all, due to my getting a very good job (yay me!), started today. I will posting on a random basis, and try to keep up with the forum as much as I can. I thank you all for your service, and wish that all goes in your favor in the MEB/PEB monster.

I dont believe anything my PEBLO says... which actually now that I think about it... I never get any information from my PEBLO so I guess that doesn't matter. I wrote my PEBLO an email to get a check up... and I got nothing back after a few days.

sorry to hear that your PEBLO is not assisting you like he/she should be. If you are going through the Ft Lewis PEB, PM me

JBLM

23 Jan - initial paperpwork for meb brief
24 Jan - MEB brief
25 Jan - MEB legal brief
15 Feb - MEB: Veterans Affairs MSC
27 Feb - MRI: neck
28 Feb - QTC Medical Evaluation/General Physical
27 Mar - NARSUM Dictation w/ Dr.
18 July - NARSUM signed, packet went to PEB
06 Aug - packet left PEB went to VA for ratings

The process seemed to move fairly quickly until it hit the VA for rating. I hope that it cruises now. We shall see...

OK here is some info for JBLM Soldiers for the seperation part after you sign your 199:
1. Immediately go to Waller Hall and go to the RSO office and get the next pre-retirement brief date (can not be on terminal leave to attend)
2. Start your DA-31, leave the dates blank and the amount of days requested blank. Try and get it signed blank so it is ready for right after your transpoc brief.
3. The following statement has to be in Block 17 Remarks section of the DA-31:

"I understand that this absence is not directed by and U.S. Government official. I further understand that I cannot conduct public business under this authorization. Accordingly, I will not be entitled to reimbursement for travel, per diem, or any other expenses. I understand that I have the right to cancel it at any time and return to my regular place of duty. PDTY _________ to __________"

4. The day that you turn your packet in, they have 5 days to cut your orders. (Supposedly)
5. The day of your transpoc brief is the start date of your 90 day countdown.
6. If you are not taking leave and selling days. Give yourself time to get things set after you have your packet ready. Give yourself 2-3 weeks for your last day.
7. The 90th day after your transpoc brief is your new ETS date, unless you elect to seperate earlier due to selling leave days or you don't have many leave days. If you have more than 60 days of leave go through your PEBLO to request an extension and have you removed from transpoc list, take up some leave days and use them, then get put back on the transpoc list.

This is a list of things you need to have for your packet as of July 2012, if you don't have them readily available, try and get them asap.:
1. Prior DD214's/NGB 22 (if this applies to you, this is specifically for prior service)
2. All enlistment contracts/re-enlistments/extensions (4/1, 4/2, & 4/3) (1st Contract and 1st page of re-enlistment contracts)
3. Updated ERB, ensure everything is correct I MEAN EVERYTHING. Your ERB in section (up by the promotion info) the Reenl Elig/Prohib needs to say 9H, if it says 9T that is ok. If it says 1O they will not let you get your orders. To fix this you need to see your BN or BDE retention NCO. Most other fixes for data info can be fixed by your S-1 Shop.
4. DD 2648 ACAP checklist. The one you and the ACAP Counselor signed and has a red stamp on it. (Made a photo copy of it, hope that will do)
5. Updated DD93 and the SGVL (this is 2 pieces of paper and they are not the same thing.) They must be valid for 120 days after seperation.
6. DA 3286-67 if you fall under Enlisted for Loan Repayment Program. (If you don't know what this is, then you don't need it!)
7. Bars to re-enlistment/Flags/Promotion orders. Yes, your ops have to give them to you! Flag removals too if you have a flag removed before seperation.
8. Declination Statement. (If you don't know what a Dec Statement is then it doesn't apply to you)
9. MEDEVAC Orders (Only if deployment is under 8 months & 15 days) (Why? So they can give you an Overseas Ribbon! Thats why!)(If you don't know what this is, then it has nothing to do with you.)
10. Counseling statement/address form/request for orders (these are given to you at the transpoc brief, and no you can't get them ahead of time!)
11. DA-31 for Transitional(Terminal) Leave (must have a control number and signature block typed or printed of the person who approved the leave.)
12. Promotion Orders if promotable. FOR THIS YOU DEAL DIRECTLY WITH BDE S-1, YOUR BN HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS!!! Note: If Soldier is promotable the attached ERB with your new ETS date (written on top by you) bring it to your BDE S-1 if unit is in PSDR. Promotion orders are REQUIRED per paragraph 8 of the MILPER MSG 09-067. The promotion date WILL be the last day on Active Duty. PSDR units are REQUIRED to publish the promotion order. Orders for Non-PSDR units will be published by the installation promotion section.

The Transpoc briefs are every Tuesday and Thursday at 11:00 at the Transition Office at Waller Hall. Sign in is 10:30.

You will have 8 business days to have this packet turned in.

I say again, you do not need any of this stuff at the brief!!! This is just information for you to be prepared! I think this was everything covered... LOL!:):p

Awesome information!!! I don't know if my BDE Commander will sign it without date. Even doubt it more that all the minions prior to hitting the BDE CDR desk. Will have approx 70 days of combined (terminal / ptdy) leave.

Any other tips that anybody else has during the final transition after 199?

Your BC will most likely sign it, since it's in their best interest to do it, though it will take a little more time to get it thru the process. Your S-1 will advise them to sign it ASAP and get it back to you as soon as possible. PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you the DA-31 example of how it's supposed to look.

Has anyone from JBLM recently heard anything about the PEB. My peblo has submitted several inquiries and has not heard back. I called my MSC to make sure the packet didnt get kicked back after VA did the proposed ratings. I am only waiting on my 199 now its been 2 months already. Since OCT 13, 2012 when the MSC sent my proposed ratings to the PEB. I am ready to move on so i can look for jobs too.

Found out today that there is only three VA RO that handles the IDES va claims, probably why it's takes time to get the proposed ratings

The va rep actually knew the IDES process like the back of her hand, a lot of va reps know about but it but can't really explain it

If anybody claim is a the Seattle RO to recieve you proposed ratings after being found unfit is 29 days but that's just a estimate

Leggett, just so I'm understanding what your saying. My stuff is at Seattle after being found unfit nov 28th and finally told last week that the va received it dec 4th. The person you spoke to was a va rep and said seattle ides military is averaging 29 days to start our prelim ratings then? Appreciate the info
