Hello all,
Just posting my timeline, just to see if anyone is matching or even has any insight.
AD Army, 9yrs. I was referred for MDD, but upon receiving my NARSUM, it was updated to PTSD and bipolar disorder.

10 May 24: Met w/ therapist, received P3
14 May 24: Profile approved
26 June: PEBLO/Legal/VA brief (so late because I had leave planned)
15 July: 1st C&P Appointment
6 Aug: Last C&P Appointment
8 Oct: Last DBQ uploaded
28 Oct: Received NARSUM + BH addendum
29 Oct: NARSUM sent up.

In the MEB stage I was asking my PEBLO for updates weekly, now I’ve kinda tapered off with the holidays approaching. When I ask for updates he will just say “no updates”. Am I able to ask for anything more specific? About how long is everyone’s PEB stage taking?
I’m hoping to hear back this upcoming week, but my overall goal is to be out no later than April 2025. Does that sound attainable?

There's no specific answer tbh. It varies based on how many people are ahead of you in the queue at the PEB in San Antonio. Walter Reed handled my MEB and it took about 3.5 months from the time my NARSUM was sent up to receiving my DA 199 with ratings. You may be delayed slightly but not much given the holiday schedule, but April should be feasible as long as you don't have any appeals or setbacks.

Referred to PEB 12 Sep.
VA case closed 5 Nov.
DA 199 received 16 Dec.

So I would say roughly 3 months. In total I am right at the 6 month mark with case being fully closed. 90 days MEB / 90 days PEB. Add a month for orders and stuff. Just know you will be done in that window.

Thank you for your response! I feel like 3.5 would be cutting it close for me. My PEBLO says they’re working on my ratings, and I just reached out to my MSC for more info, so hopefully ai hear back from him soon.

Thanks! I hit my 6 month mark this month. But even if I assumed my NARSUM was sent 1Nov, it’s been less than 2 months so far so I’m not doing too bad on timing. I haven’t seen anything in the VA app yet; it’s still showing no claims for me. I think I would be fine if I wasn’t officially out by March or April, but at least on my terminal leave.

I got my 199 back about almost two months after my proposed ratings were completed by the VA. Have you considered doing an expedite memo?

I’m looking into it now! I just emailed my MSC today. If I don’t hear from him tomorrow afternoon, I will give him a call. Do you know what the memo entails?

From what i'm tracking, its essentially just a memo with the 5 W's as to why you're requesting your case to be expedited through the PEB. (Job Offer, School Acceptance, etc..). It would be submitted through your PEBLO because they input it into the ePEB system.

Okay, that sounds like something i can craft up. And it makes sense that it would need to go through my PEBLO, but when I emailed him first, he made it sound like a foreign language when I mentioned it to him. When I told him I wanted to request expedition, he said “I don’t know what to tell you…” and when I mentioned the memo, he said stuff like, “…if it does exist.” lol. So my MSC was my next best route.

13 Jan 2025: Checked VA app, claim is closed!
This came after emailing my MSC a few days ago asking if my claims had been seen. He responded not yet but to ask him in two weeks. Whether that email helped move some things around I do not know, but we’re getting somewhere!

More to follow.

I emailed my MSC on the 14th after I saw the updated claim in VA app. He emailed back today and let me know my proposed rating is 100%!
Still waiting on my DA199, but just glad that stress is off my shoulders.

16 Jan 2025: DA199 received! 70% DOD / 100% VA TDRL.
I should be talking to legal soon, and after that, my PEBLO says that the turnaround time for proposed separation date is fairly quick. So it looks like I will have orders by the end of the month!

Funny that I just updated this post today and ended up getting a call from my PEBLO same day.
I just want to say my PEBLO is a blessing. He is one of the good ones; has always responded to my emails, even if he didn’t have an updates for me. We laugh and joke when he calls, and he’s let me know if the systems are down or if there are any other issues. He’s let me know that he’s prayed for me throughout this whole process, and that he had no doubt that I would get what I deserve. I am so blessed.

Understand TDRL means reevaluation and not permanent disability. Be prepared for that.

Yes, I’m aware! Due to my referred condition being MH, I knew that TDRL would be the case with retirement. My reevaluation isn’t until early 2026, so I have some time to prepare.

22 Jan 2025: Received proposed separation date 21 April.
I have some leave & hoping to get house/job hunting approved, so with all combined I can be on terminal next month.
