Got my letter today with my PDBR results. Good News!!

Fellow Veterans, I am relieved to hear of the positive results from your pdbr cases. My heart goes out to those Veterans (especially Combat Vets) who may never get the benifits due to them. I am 100 percent VA rated also waiting to hear back from TX. I threw away the NVLSP letter when I first received it but thank God for the Vet Center counselors I opted in just befor it was too late. I am, as I'm sure you are and were too, stressed about the details of the timelines and the whole process in general. The NVLSP people say that my case will be with the ones that are retired and my question for you all is, what were your doc #s? I am in the 7oo's. My paper work has been in for about 7 months. Should I make calls or just relax (yeah right). I'm just so overwhelmed with this. It's been a hard road since I came back and I could use some good news. Thank you all so much for your courage and sevice. The world will never know what we go through. I am humbled to have served with Americas soldiers and marines and I will Never forget my brothers. God bless America! (And God bless those idiots running our government )

Kevin,
Thanks for the reply. So your now recieving your retirement? Have you looked into CRSC? My doc# is in the 700's and I read somewhere in here that PDBR is going through 20+ cases a month. What was your # and from the day you recieved a letter from PDBR saying they had recieved your packet to the day you knew that your retiremant was official, how long was it? Did you need to do anything special to get your benifits? Again, thanks for the response and your service.
GREG.

Well today was a snow day for most in the D.C. area. I took full advantage of it. Me and my wife left mid morning over to Walter Reed. Went to ID card section and there was no one there except us. Got ID card for myself and her and updated DEERS. Went downstairs to the Vehicle Registration and once again no one there. Got the vehicle registration stickers for both of us. Went upstairs to RSO and asked a few questions, got my flag and pin. The lady I needed to speak with was out today, so I'll need to do packet for DFAS once she returns. I then proceeded over to Tri-Care enrollment and once again, we were the only one's there. We got enrolled in Tri-Care and were on our way. This process only lasted less than three hours and no waiting. I even had time to go speak with some friends that were on base. I spent the rest of the afternoon shopping at the Commissary and PX at Ft. Meade. People seemed surprised when I was telling them about the Army going back in time and retiring me. At the RSO they saw my orders and said "We remember you", I guess that had some issues with the PDA going back and forth with them, lol. It was certainly a surreal experience actually being able to go to the PX and Commissary as I would never had thought I was going to do that again. For those out there still waiting for a result from the PDBR, don't give up hope. It took my packet 18 months from the time I submitted it and I was docket #365. My advice is to be patient and get as educated as possible about the retirement process and your benefits. Oh, I almost forgot, I asked about finance issues and as usual no one had any good answers for me about severance pay and stuff. The RSO at Walter Reed isn't a "true RSO" as they described it, so they gave me a number to call a lady at Ft. Myer who is the RSO for the area. Also, when going to get ID cards make sure you bring two forms of ID. I used drivers license and Social Security Card. To update DEERS make sure you bring your dependents social security cards and birth certificates*. (*Note: Deers will still have your old information in the system, so you need to bring birth certificates for any new dependents since you were discharged) For vehicle registration bring drivers license, proof of insurance, and your vehicle registration and you should be good. One more thing, I enrolled in the retiree dental program once I got home. The website for that is TRICARE Retiree Dental Program. If you have any questions please ask and I will do my best to respond quickly. I will post finance stuff later when that is all figured out.

Take Care,

Mac

11gunner,

I opted in to the lawsuit on 01/28/2010 and the date of my decision letter from the Army was 12/27/2010. Currently I haven't received any word yet on my orders and I see by reading Ralphmac's post that today was a snow day in DC. (I tried to call Ms. Boyd at the PDA). My PDBR docket number was 00184, but like Jason has posted in the past that number is only a rough estimate of the order in which they have received the packets. In my case they had to wait for quite a bit of medical records to be sent from the VA (my file is like a foot and a half thick). Anyway, not to spread rumors, but I have heard from another forum member that the Sabo lawsuit attorneys have asked that the federal judge take the PDBR out of it and make a decision for all of the plaintiffs. Currently this is just hearsay but I think it's possible. I tried to call the NVLSP today but they are in DC too and probably out of the office. Hang in there though, this thing will get resolved in our favor.

Ralphmac,

Dude, you are my hero...hahahahaaa...that's awesome that you got all that done in one day with no waiting!!! Once I get my orders from the PDA, I guess I'll be taking a trip down to Fort Carson to get all that squared away. (C'mon SNOW!!!!) There's nothing that can stop one motivated and dedicated servicemember!!!!

Ralphmac, thanks for the reply. I called TX and the woman said my case is on her desk as we spoke. She would review it and send it PDBR in Washington. Have you been able to access any type of benifit though you don't have a copy of your new orders? Don't they have you in the system atleast? Have you looked into CRSC? I heard they will back pay everything! I hope your situation goes just the way you hope.

11gunner,
What number did you call in Tx? The number I called today just rang and rang with no answer.

Thanks,
Shelley

Orion69,

Yeah, I was kind of surprised as well getting in an out of those areas that quickly, lol. I made an appointment with the RSO on Friday to discuss SBP and get my finance packet sent up to DFAS. Make sure when you get your orders get an appointment with the RSO, as they are very helpful and are willing to help. 11gunner, I waited for my orders before I did anything just so I wouldn't waste my time taking off work and trying to explain to those DA civilians why I need an ID card etc, lol. I got my orders in about a month and a half and during holiday season. Be patient and from my experiences anyone you call once your packet has been sent to PDBR, won't have any answers. It's in the PDBR's hands after that. I could be wrong about that, but that's just my experience. I will post more on the finance issues as the arise.

Take Care,

Mac

Shelley, if you called and nobody picked up then it's the right number. But, if your packet has been sent to the real PDBR, not the one in TX but in Washington, then I do know what to say. The number for TX is 2105653256. They might be able to tell you what the deal is. So is your packet in TX or in Washington?

Shelley, if nobody answered, you have the right number. It took forever before they answered. The # is 210-565-3256. Is your case in TX or washington? I wonder how long it takes once the packet is actually at washington, Anybody Know?

Mine has been in Washington since Feb. 10. filed Aug 2009. Hope this helps. Its very frustrating but just got to try and keep your head up and think positive. It will all work out in a year

Gunner11,
Yes, this is the number that I called, I finally got in touch with someone-THANKS!!! My packet was received in Washington on 11-4-2010. They said this process could take 6-8 months from that date-the board would have to review it and go over the information and then it would be turned over to the Army. At this rate, it wouldn't be before summer, if not longer-LOL.
My docket number is in the 500's. Does the docket number really help with anything!?!?!?

Shelley

Heads up all. I am part of the sabo action, my docket number is 153, i just got the letter that says the pdbr just recieved my stuff from the va. Im assuming this means they havent even looked at me yet. I really think that your docket number is irrelevant as far as when you can expect to hear back. Like one of the other posts said, my case is supposed to be an expidited review, it appears to be anything but expidited.

I spoke to the NVLSP last week and they are trying to do exactly that. I spoke with steve and he said that the PDBR is not following the judges ruling so they have filed a new motion.
