Long story short, the VA failed to provide the information from all my MRI's, Physical Therapy and Ortho Doctor (the letter states not all information was gathered by the VA at the time of the decision). This process is just like most government agencies. Do not expect is anything sent or given to the board. As I go into my 10th appointment today to the VA in the past 16 days to decide on if my leg is worth saving (I have numbness in the right leg due to a botched surgery by the Army that resulted in 2 more surgeries to remove hardware the 1st doctor installed and a bruise on my right hamstring that has not gone away in 10 year where the grafted my new ACL), the Army PDBR decided to increase me from 0 to 10% since the information they received from the VA (my rating from the VA was 30% now being increased to 50%) was not all there. Make sure to send in all the hardball copies of your doctors stuff/appointments/anything related to your medical condition and get the PDBR mailing address to send it in to the board as the VA continues to screw over people. I was not in this for the money as I am already at 100% total with the VA but better healthcare would of been nice (Plus I already have perm military ID so the healthcare was the only good thing about this). It sickens me that people fail to have full knowledge of this program and I was told by the Army PDBR people ( Francine Blackmon was my POC) that they are taking so long with the whole program because 1) People are expecting the VA to send in the information when they usually botch it or dont send enough 2) The whole PDBR process is plaqued with people who got out on something small (like back pain before deployment and was medboarded at 0% but was not rated at all by the VA due to lack of evidence to suggest they didnt fully recover). She also said the system is bogged down by too many people who claim bigger injuries than what is actually medically proven. I am ok with my decision as I expected to be denied to be granted anything higher than what the the VA rep told me (VA has OEF counselors who are like middle men to the VA and she went thru the same process). I guess only 8% of people get a increase overall to past 30% as they are winding down this whole thing and the PDBR is at its final stages of closing down for good. If you got the increase, congratulations. You are the very few who got it. As for me, Im off to hack off my own leg in Mexico since the VA is too busy dealing with the people faking the system and screwing over the people who need it! Please make sure to watch out for each other and look for the warning signs of someone who is need of help.
