long story short, I am at a geographical separated unit and it took almost 2 years to get our servicing clinic (Eglin AFB) to initiate my case. I was referred for chronic back pain, bilateral knee pain (numerous conditions), and MDD. Below is my timeline:

8 February 2024: notification of IRILO

9 February 2024: peblo contact/paperwork

27 February2024: MH NARSUM signed

29 Feb 2024: CIS retain (I previously spoke with my commander and informed her that I did not feel I should be retained. Commander put retain on CIS and I made sure to elaborate on why I did not agree with that decision.

5 March 2024: physical NARSUM signed

12 March 2024: referred to AFPC

19 March 2024: FL-4 full MEB

3 Apr 2024: MSC reached out and sent paperwork to be completed

4 Apr 2024: sent SHA paperwork to MSC (I conducted a medical document review and created a draft SHA upon notification of full MEB to speed up this process)

4 Apr 2024: Wounded Warrior Program reached out and I provided Optum Serve my availability (any date and time).

15 Apr 2024: Audio exam (c&p)

5 May 2024: BH appt (c&p)

16 May 2024: head to toe exam (c&p)

17 May 2024: accepted into wounded warrior program. It normally does not take them long to accept applications; however, they waited a month for my commander’s response (contacted numerous times) and they pushed forward seems as she was not responsive

22 May 2024 AM: reached out to Optum Serve for clarification question and asked if all my documents were sent to VA. Told they were not.

22 May 2024 PM: all DBQs in TOL (or so I thought)

6 June 2024: last minute C&P for 2 new DBQs

9 June 2024: Optum Serve completed DBQs and sent to VA

10 June 2024: all DBQs in TOL. Informed PEBLO all C&Ps completed

11 June 2024: PEBLO acknowledged email of c&p completion

13 June 2024 AM: pinged MSC, told completed exams and asked if anything else I need to do (just being a squeaky wheel seems as he was not helpful or responsive in the past). No response but the VA uploaded a combined DBQs PDF to TOL a few hours later (I assume this is what and when they sent them to PEBLO)

14 June 2024 (I am assuming this date because of 13 and 17 June 2024 events): local MEB

17 June 2024: received and signed form 618 “refer to ipeb”

I called over 15 times and they always gave me the, “you are in the IDES so you will get everything from your PEBLO” briefing. I never mentioned being in the IDES so I guess I just never got one of the MVP representatives. I am hoping to hear from my peblo today seems as I received the second MyFSS email on Friday

22 July 2024: Received proposed rating 90 DoD/100 P&T VA (TDRL). I am going to speak with the ODC this week and see if we can fight to change it to PDRL (I don’t know if that is a thing I can fight but I will try)

So is “temporary” just a seperation? I keep hearing PDRL and TDRL and i know it’s temp and perm but is that just seperation vs retirement? I just got my first FSS email on 17 Jul 2024 so i’m trying to figure it all out.

Above 30% DoD is retirement. TDRL simply means it is a “temporary retirement” with a re-evaluation that could potentially return you to duty. PDRL means permanent retirement without potential of returning to duty. I hope this helps!

I was found unfit for 1 mental health condition and it is a requirement to be put on TDRL (a regulation apparently but I don’t know which one off the top of my head). I would have been PDRL had it not been for that single unfitting MH condition. Upon further research, I am going to accept the TDRL because I will not be returned to duty for my other 2 conditions!

If your other 2 PDRL conditions = 30% or higher then you will stay out regardless. However, continue to seek treatment for your TDRL condition until you get rated and it converts to PDRL too. Remember, your chapter 61 pension is your floor for compensation. So you want that amount to be as high as possible.

Update-
24 Jul 24: received 2 myFSS emails (welcome to TDRL and something has been uploaded to your PRDA). The thing is nothing has been uploaded to my PRDA
 
I checked milconnect.gov and downloaded my records. My PEB packet shows my retirement was approved yesterday and I will receive my orders in 24 hours. My vMPF shows a DOS of 28 Oct 24.
 
Final update-
24 Jul 24: received orders and the out processing begins.

I will not post anymore updates as I don’t think it will benefit anyone. That being said, if anyone has a question, please feel free to comment. I will still receive the email notifications!!
 
Wow, you got orders fast as shit, my PEBLO said 2 weeks for orders, called today and she said its being finalized. I have been waiting a week and half

honestly, I thought I would have to wait a month or more seems as that was my MEB trend. On Monday I started working with a different peblo because my original one went on leave and everything just started rolling. I definitely got lucky towards the end!!
 
Nice, my first fss email was the same day so hopefully soon on my end.
