Help Calculate CRSC?

Hello @grantboy4 ,

Unfortunately, your reply includes little of what I outlined that is needed to do an accurate computation.

Your CRSC will will be the lesser of
--The amount for 100% and applicable dependents found in the VA compensation tables. See LINK <----
or
---The longevity portion of your retired pay, which would be 14.17 x 2.5% x average high three base pay = longevity amount The result will likely be your CRSC.
Pure guess: 35.43% x 4185 = $1483 This is imprecise due to a lack of information.

If I receive the following info (previously requested) I can provide a more precise answer:

Needed within one reply:
1.--Average high three for basic pay (total of the highest 36 months of pay divided by 36) As an alternative (and better) cite the gross retired pay on the most recent DFAS RAS. Indicate which you are furnishing.
2.--DoD disability percentage
3. --Active duty years and months (or active duty equivalent for RC members)
4. --VA compensation
percentage;
amount;
dependents by category;
and ages of dependent children.
Also provide information pertaining to any SMCs you receive.

5.--Projected or approved CRSC percentage by your service.
6.--Whether you qualify for another type retirement and whether you transitioned to the blended retirement system
7.--Did you receive a REDUX/CSB payment?
8.--Did you accept the Blended Retirement program option?

Ron G Can you help me out with a CRSC calculation

1. High three base pay average: $6,400.00
2. DoD disability retirement percentage: 70%
3. Years/months of active duty: 10years, 0 months
4. VA percentage/compensation: 90%w/Spouse+ 1 Child (2 years old)
5. CRSC Award: 100%
6. Qualify for another type of retirement? No
7. Blended retirement? No

I believe the answer is going to be zero but just wanted to verify. Thanks for the help.

Hello @Miler.4347 ,

Estimate:

a. 6400 x 70% = 4480 retired pay
b. 4480 minus 2,160.18 = 2319.82 residual retired pay
c. 10 yrs AD x 2.5% = 25% longevity multiplier
d. 6400 x 25% = 1600 longevity amount of retired pay and CRSC ceiling
e.. Your residual retired pay exceeds the longevity portion of retired pay = Zero CRSC

Hello @spark2002 ,

Info you provided:

Estimate based on your info
:

1. VA rating: 90% with spouse no kids = 2,044.18
2. 3860/50% = 7720 high three average base pay
3. 3860 gross minus 2044.18 VA comp amt = 1815.82 residual retired pay (note: 2044.18 is a CRSC ceiling)
4. 15.25 AD equivalent years x 2.5% = 38.13% longevity multiplier
5. 7720 x 38.13% = 2943.64 longevity portion of retired pay (another CRSC ceiling)
6. 40% CRSC with spouse = 705.77 (the third CRSC ceiling in this computation)
7. The combination of residual retired pay and CRSC cannot exceed the longevity portion of retired pay. CRSC cannot exceed the approved CRSC amount/percentage by service.
CRSC also cannot exceed the amount of the VA offset.
8. With the info at item 7 considered: 705.77 CRSC amt for 40% with spouse using VA comp tables plus 1815.82 residual retired pay = 2521.59 amount paid by DFAS each month.
9. Summary of payments:
--VA compensation: 2044.18
--DFAS residual retired pay: 1815.82
--DFAS CRSC: 705.77

Estimate:

1. 985/40% = ~2462 high three base pay
2. 4.5 AD years x 2.5% = 11.25% longevity multiplier
Note: If under the blended retirement program, 2% would be used instead of 2.5%
3. 2462 x 11.25% = 276.98 longevity amount and potential CRSC
4. CRSC can never be more than the longevity amount.

Payments;
VA = 3930 VA comp
DFAS: 276.98 CRSC

The CRSC will be less if you were under the blended retiremement program.

Ron

Thank you so much Ron, you've helped immensely! I was not under the blended retirement. Once again, thank you!
