How does DOD rate arthritis?

So my ratings are sitting at the Air Force Ipeb office right now to work on the packet. I expect to get them back in a few days. I have already talked to my VA Rep and he has told me my ratings are 100 percent. I was initially referred for stage 3 liver damage and arthritis. Now, here's the confusing part, the VA rates arthritis per joint affected correct? If that's the case I have 20 percent on my back and 20 percent on my neck. What would the DOD show for their ratings? Would they show the 20/20 or a different rating all together?

I hope I said that clearly enough, thanks for the help in advanced!

What kind of arthritis? DoD should apply the VA ratings for conditions the PEB deems unfitting.

It just said arthritis, the problem is, is that I have some unknown autoimmune disease and the arthritis I have is, in the doctor's words "arthritis with autoimmune qualities" So they literally put Arthritis down for the MEB.

Have you read the retention standards for the AF. They can be found on this site, in the resources section. The AF calls it the MSD - Medical Standards Directory. You need to know which of your conditions don't meet standards for retention. Then insist they rate you on all non-retainable conditions (or until you get to 80%). This gets you 75% DoD which is the max.

If it is an autoimmune based arthritis, it should most likely be rated under VASRD DC 5009 which refers to the rating criteria in DC 5002. If it is autoimmune, you need to make sure that is clearly documented in your MEB. Have you been seen by a rheumatologist?

Oh yeah, I've been seen by two. It said in the NARSUM, "Arthritis with autoimmune like qualities".

Is it an inflammatory arthritic condition? What do your labs say? SED rate? ESR? Rheumatoid factor? HLA-B27? What does your X-rays and other imagery reports state?

SED and RF normal. Haven't had HLA-B27 done. However blood markers for Lupus and Sjogrens pop positive. X-rays show nothing but MRIs show massive disc degeneration in 5 discs in my back. I couldn't get them to do any other joints (e.g. Knees). Often time RA won't show damage to actual bone for a while.

You should go to the website for the Board of Veterans Appeals. There you can search past cases of lupus and sjogrens and get a bead on how the VA rates those conditions.

Hi this is my farst time here i have 17 yr army reserves and 3 yr active duty i am 100% from VA and 90% DOD I have a 20 yr latter im on the PRL do i get crdp?

No, but perhaps when you become eligible for reserve retirement at age 60. You can collect CRSC if you have VA compensated conditions that are combat related.
