Med-board Question, extending or reenlisting

My husband is AD and his med board was “approved” and by that I’m not sure what it means, everyone here says it’s been approved and they called him and told him (med group called) it would be a loooong process. but he has not been coded, and nothing has happened in 4 months. hence the long process, it was approved in february (i guess maybe january)

His separation date is Sept. of this year. He cannot extend for a personal extension because he has already used it.

Our fear, and correct me if we are misunderstanding; is that he won’t have been coded by this time and he will have to deal with the VA. Is this the case? Or will he be able to reenlist.

Another scenario;

he is coded before sept. but the process isn’t even near complete, someone above him said if he is coded and he will automatically be put up for extension based on medical reasons until it is complete. Is this correct information?

He also said if everything just takes the piss and falls apart he will accept the separation stipend so we can afford to move, but I really don’t want to have to pay back a loan for years and years even if it IS interest free.

He would like to be extended until the process is finished because we quite literally cannot afford to move right now, we just had to buy a car because ours crapped out and that wiped our savings we’re building it back now.

Thanks for advice and help, he is being medboarded for PTSD and some body stuff.

When an MEB/PEB is started the medics should place the member on med hold. This is an involuntary extension.

That’s what my assumption was, but my husband has been freaking out because he doesn’t want to have to reenlist for another 4 years due to his PTSD, and told me I was incorrect.

Even if he is not “coded” yet up at PEBLI there should still be a med hold?

Med Holds happen regularly.

sorry to reply to you once again, the squadron Medgar told him that if they still haven’t told him he needs to start looking for something to do unless they told him within the next three months. He’s going to try and talk to somebody Monday, does this sound incorrect?

Talk to the PEBLO for a steer to the right person to help at your location.
