How long?

Hello all,

My package was sent to the PEB on October 26th. I'm just wondering if it's normal for it to take this long for me to get an unfit or fit decision. I've called the VA and they said they don't have anything in their system but also noted that it takes two weeks to process anything from the PEB. I called the PEB office at NMC Portsmouth the week before Thanksgiving and I was told to call back in December. I called back today and they told me to call back again in January. I just don't understand why it's taking so long for a decision on my Fitness for Duty. It's been 43 days.

Happy for ya dude. You have no idea how pissed I am with my process. Your package was accepted November 4 and you got your findings already? I'm jealous as hell cause mine was accepted on October 23 and the VA even told me they sent stuff back to my PEBLO and he still hasn't gotten back to me. This process has been so unreal so far.
Yes I did! Sorry for not keeping my timeline updated.

I got a phone call that my findings were in on the 30th but because of the holiday, I had to go in and sign for my findings on the 3rd. I accepted them and they were sent back to the PEB the same day. Just waiting for my new EAS to post!

Also, to anyone that lives and dies by EBenefits updates, I wouldn't if I were you. I have already accepted my findings and my EBenefits still has nothing under Historical Claims and my claim is still "Gathering of Evidence" with it still prompting me to input my banking information.

I'm surprised you haven't heard anything. I actually got my PEB accepted MOL notification on 24 October. Your PEBLO not contacting you sounds a lot like my experience. About two hours before I got the phone call that my findings were in, I called the VA and asked for an update on my board. The gentleman was extremely kind and helpful and told me that they sent stuff to my PEBLO and to contact him because apparently my board was finished from their standpoint. Of course I contacted my PEBLO immediately after that and he said "Gunny will call you when your findings are in." An hour later and I get the phone call...not from my PEBLO but from a woman taking over for Gunny since he was on leave.

My PEBLO was extremely unhelpful during my entire MEB process and STILL IS. If I were you I would try to squeeze some info out of the VA but that's just me. If you have any questions, let me know! I'm not an IDES expert but I have just recently gone through the process. Good luck.

The guy at the Va was nice enough to drop a hint at what I may be looking at because he was like I can neither confirm nor deny that your rated at 30+% then asked if I had kids and a wife which I don't but he still told me I can add them to my VA claim later In life. He gave this Info right after telling me here's a little parting gift for ya. So I don't think he'd go through the trouble of telling me all this if I wasn't rated 30+. The PEBLO is a joke.

It always sucks being the person that doesn't know anything, especially when the information is about yourself. The person I spoke to at the VA straight up said, "Your proposed ratings are in and your PEBLO is dicking you around." I guess I got lucky with the person I spoke to at the VA

Well I emailed my PEBLO this morning. What do you think is a good time frame to just go in and ask in person if my email isn't answered?

I really don't know. I emailed my PEBLO and he responded right away, but would feel shitty if I told you to do something that I know nothing about. I would keep pushing their buttons though. Please let me know when you get some answers.

Man, I've been waiting on my findings to come in for 61 days now. My package was sent to the PEB from the VA for Q&A on November 10th. I've called everyone, and nobody has been able to really help me figure out what's going on. IDES is a joke. February will be 9 months in this process for me.

I was grounded from flight and my provider "referred me to MEB" January 29th 2016! I am just now getting my package sent to PEB. I really have trouble comprehending all of this and breaking it down into the most barney style for understanding. It sounds like now that my pack is "almost" being routed to PEB this week hopefully. I have around 60 days after package is sent to PEB before I get rating back? My PEBLO is saying 120 days until I get findings/ratings back. at that point I will have 45-90 before separation. does all of that seem correct. There is basically 0 percent chance of FIT findings. Can anybody help me with an in general timeline? I have a pregnant wife 2 dogs and a 1 year old son. These fucked up games are leaving me making decisions that effect the rest of my life and the safety and well being for my family based off my terribly uniformed opinion using guidelines the DOD/VA disregard regularly.

My timeline is/was:

Stationed at Camp Lejeune
24 October 2016: Received MOL message that my medical board was accepted by the PEB for action.
Days between 25 October and 30 December: Constantly on EBenefits, calling the VA and hounding my PEBLO trying to get some sort of information regarding my board.
30 December 2016: Phone call that my ratings were in.
3 January 2017: Accepted findings. Signed and sent back to PEB.
12 January 2017: EAS changed from 20170916 to 20170429.

That's just the cut to the chase timeline that I had. I can go further into detail if you want, covering dates like when I was referred to the PEB, when I had my exams, etc.
Also, after reading this site's posts for about a year now, compared to other timelines, I feel like my board was extremely quick but I don't know. Good luck and keep us posted.

How many days did you have on the books? I'm waiting for my eas to update and trying to get a guess what they'll update my eas to. My original eas was the end of December so I'm on a hold!

Thank you that does all seem fast.
So when you say 24OCT16 your medboard was accepted by the PEB for action, is that different than my peblo "scanning and sending" my package to PEB? it seems like youre saying after it has been scanned and sent to PEB that I will get a notice that it has been "accepted" in ____ amount of time.

My timeline is in my signature. It's really close to a lot of other people I've met who also submitted their package around the same time as mine, so I would assume that the average wait time is around the same this time of year. Naturally though, every case has the potential to be different.

And just to answer this question; yes, from what I've seen from stalking this forum for the last several months, it seems that there tends to be about a week between signing your package and your PEBLO "sending" it to the PEB, and the MOL message saying that the package was received by the PEB. Hope this helps.

There is a difference between the PEBLO scanning and sending vs. the PEB actually receiving the board. You will get an MOL notification when the PEB accepts your case.

I had 64 days on the books. Plus 20 days of PTAD, plus the 5 days that I am going to accrue put me at 89 days of terminal. Last day is next Friday, official EAS is April 29th.

What is an MOL?
MOL is marine online. It's kindof an all-things-admin-related portal that marines use to access and monitor their individual records, training records, and medical records online. We get notifications and messages when our duty status, med board status, etc. changes.
