Ive been on TDRL since 2011 for asthma. From 2009 until now, all of my Pulmonary Function tests have been normal. I have a history of allergies, but I just recently was given an allergy test in july 2012 and it was noted in my narrative from my periodic exam that my allergies are significant and may have cause a positive methacholine test result which led to my asthma diagnosis. I recieved my IPEB findings this month and it is recommended that I be permanently retired. I want to return to active duty Air Force. I have requested a formal hearing at lackland, and I wanted to know what steps I need to take to prove my case and get the desired outcome?

I would get my civilian physician write a statement that you're allergies are controlled by medication (I'm making some assumptions here) and state how long its been since you've had an asthma attack. Then I'd go to a local USAR or ARNG unit and ask if they would let you take a record APFT and take the results showing you passed it, along with your civilian physician statement, to the formal hearing. What you are looking for is a finding of fit for duty. With that finding you have a statutory (by law) right to enlist as prior service.
