I need your help about stroke

Hi, 4 days after receiving the anthrax vaccine I was hospitalized with a stroke at 28 years old. The military and the referred neurologist said theres been "no direct evidence" the vaccine caused the stroke, they also don't have a cause either. At first they said i had a blood clotting disorder and was put on Coumadin , but subsequent testing has disproved that and now I'm on a baby aspirin a day. But anyway, I've since fully recovered and cleared by the civilian doctors. My package was sent to PEB about a month ago. What do you think is going to happen to me career wise, will they keep me or not? If not what type of rating can I expect? My PEBLO is not very helpful and doesn't seem to care.

See my questions/response under conditions.
Thanks Bob

Ceilingfan-

I am not currently doing my job (AFSC). I got sick during a short tour and when I left the hospital the AF decided to sent me to the nearest base to my hometown for rehab. I've since been on "patient squadron" status doing administrative stuff around the hospital. As it turns out this base doesn't have my job at all.

Psychofficer-

What did the MEB say? - I take it since you were sent on to the PEB that the medical folks found you did not meet retention standards? Did the VA C&P's find any residuals? Bob

I was referred to IPEB for cerebral embolism. At the time the NARSUM was written my mental state was not good enough IMO to perform in my job in intel. Since then I would say Im back to normal. The VA C&Ps checked for cognition and fine motor skills impairment, but they really didnt do anything. They said I was fine, but my af doctor disagreed with their assessment saying that i couldnt perform to the mental standards of my job. I've since tested placing 14th of 189 in my job earning a promotion.

Timeline:
Dec 12 - Cerebral embolism
Jun 13 - VA C&P Exams
Jul 13 - Package sent to IPEB

Here's my concern: The AF doc thinks you aren't retainable. The Civilian docs think you are functioning pretty well. If the C&P's don't show any significant problems, you may be an easy target to find unfit, separate, and have minimum or no benefits. If you want to stay in, you may have to fight an IPEB decision and go to a formal board. If you want to get out, but retire, not separate, you may need to get further legal assistance now, and beef up or contest the medical.
The residuals are further listed in 38 CFR.

8007 Brain, vessels, embolism of.

8008 Brain, vessels, thrombosis of.

8009 Brain, vessels, hemorrhage from:

Rate the vascular conditions under Codes 8007 through 8009,

for 6 months...................................................................................................... 100

Rate residuals, thereafter, minimum......................................................................... 10

Best of luck...Bob

Thanks a lot for your assessment. Do I get that 100 percent rating for 6 months regardless of fit or unfit? And if let go will I get a severance payment if under the 30% for residuals? Not really sure how that works. I think at this point I rather just get out because I dont know what caused the stroke. It very well believe it could have been the vaccine and I dont want to get a court martial for refusing to get it. I would like a retirement, but i only have 5 years in.

If its been more than 6 months since the embolism, I don't think you would get the 100% at all. If the C&P's saying you are "fine" mean minor or no residuals, then a 10% would lead to separation, not retirement. If you haven't been to legal, I strongly advise you to do that. Seriously. Bob

how can they justify not awarding the 100% for 6 months since I did suffer from the embolism? Then what are they finding me unfit for? You are correct I need to speak with someone from legal.
