If I don't come back

next week I am going impatient to the VA for electroconvulsive therapy. Reading accounts on the internet tell me everything from it will be A "gift from God falling from the heavens" to "I will forget the last 7 years of my life".

So if I am out of the loop for a while, or forget to ever come back to this site, you'll know why. ECT is truly a last resort for those mental health cases where medications don't work.

If all goes well in the weeks ahead I will post updates. I put this thread here because I don't really know where else it fits.

Good Luck. Hope everything works out for you.

:(

Tell us how everything goes.

Be safe and I hope it works for you.

I'm back!!! ECT worked and I feel great. I wouldn't say I'm euphoric, happy or joyful, but instead calm and relaxed. The feelings of deep depression and anxiety are gone.

I have three more ECT treatments next week and I'll be complete. Some people do relapse though and if I end up one of those I'll have to go in for a maintainence treatment every once in a while.

And bonus for me... zero memory loss. I did right unilateral vs bilateral which I believe is the reason I didnt suffer any memory loss
