Introduce yourself

Michelle,

I will have to go back and check, but I don't think I received your message. Anyway, welcome! I don't have any insight on treatment centers (probably would need to know general geographic area to try to narrow down the options). Either way, I hope someone with direct experience can pipe up and offer some suggestions. It may be the case that retirement is the best option for you, but, I would say that without exploring more treatment (sounds like that is what you are looking for) it may be early yet to make any decisions.

Hope things go well for you and I will look to see if I missed your private message. I am currently travelling for a case, so it may be a while before I respond.

Thanks Jason, no big deal if you don't have the message. If I go to the MEB/PEB I will want to hire you, and the email just gave you some more details that i can tell you if that happens. I think I have a very well documented case, but I know that if I am going through MEB/PEB then I am not facing Big Army without a subject matter expert (read as Lawyer - LOL).

I am in the Midwest, so if anyone has information for a close geographically located treatment center, that would be preferable for me. In any case, my geographic region doesn't matter, because since I have PTSD and am AGR, Tricare gave me a wounded warrior rep and she said Tricare will pay for wherever I go and my command supports this, so they will pay for travel, etc.

Take care, Michelle

Hello all, I wish all these great folks were able to come together under better circumstances, however one thing I've always loved about the military life is the way some come together to help others. I'm John Lewis, I'm an active duty TSgt that just hit 15 Years this month! I came in 1996, as a missile troop 2MOX1 and got stationed at Barksdale. I was in a car accident and messed up the ring finger on my left hand that made handling some of the heavy eqpt hard so I lucked out and crosstrained into 3C2X1 Tech Control as a first termer. I hit it right and got the big SRB...lol, just about the time of my last yearly increment i was selected for NCORP and forced to retrain. I really didn't want to get out of the comm career field so based on a rumor i retrained into 2E2X1 hoping to stay in the network field. I lucked out and got a return to Barksdale, came back after 6mos of tech school and got my old desk back and continued my training on CISCO network equipment under the leadership of the smartest dude i've ever known. I'm now a 3D172, Cyber Transport, have since moved on and am now NCOIC of Project Management at..you guessed it...Barksdale and am fighting to keep my job after 15 years much like many of you. Thank you for the support, advise and just sharing your stories.

Greetings All

My name is Connell, my screen name is my last name and first/middle initials. I'm going through the MEB process as have/are everyone here. I have a litany of med issues, but I'm being boarded for my left foot, there's a lot to the story, but it would take too long, and I made a thread on it already. I'm stationed at Barksdale AFB (Same Squadron/Base as John Lewis above me), 15 year (sept 11), AD AF, 3D071. This site has been a great tool in my quest for knowledge on this process.

Hello All, My name Is John, Just found this Forum/community, the information is needed and welcomed and it is great. Wish I had this when I was being medically seperated from the Airforce for asthma 4 years ago. Since finding this site i have been inspired to fight back, I feel that I was grossly misdiagnosed with asthma, I would like to change my RE-CODE4 to somthing were i can rejoin, and it has been weighing on me greatly to be able to rejoin the military. This is more then right or wrong but about justice and I think thats what everyone here wants and thats why this is a great Forum!!!! I will post the details on a different thread.

Greetings, my name is Steve and I am a 19+yr Navy service member. Going through the PEB process now. Less than 60 days from 20yrs and that is why I am looking for any info from those who have been in my situation. Should have findings in the next 30 days.

Appreciate any help.
V/R,
Steve

Howdy folks, been lurking for sometime now. FMF corpsman 8.5 yrs A/D now going thru the PEB process I began my physicals this week at the V.A. should know what I am rated within 120 days. I guess then it will be the long PEB wait. I have PTSD issues, neurology and some ortho stuff going on. I will make my official timeline when I know everything is done, believe me its a story worth reading.

Name is Rex and I started the MEB process late January 11 with a diagnosis of Psoriatic Arthritis. Right away I was put in MEB status with no definate information other than a "more than likely you will get discharged" from my PCM. I have been trying Methotrexate wich is an immuno supressent so automatically I am not deployable. I am about to start a combination of Enbrel and Methotrexate which whill leave me un-deployable.

Started poking around in these froums to see what I will possibly get rated when the inevitable comes. I am a maintainer and cannot perform in my career filed and have been put on light duty and a pretty hefty profile.

Hi all! My name is Kim and I'm an Army wife. My husband has been in 15 years (8 active, 7 reserve) and is currently pending a MEB. He's been diagnosed with Degenerative Disk Disease, PTSD, and Depression. We're still waiting to be send for a TBI evaluation. I have to handle all his paperwork because 1) he doesn't have the patience 2) he has problems remembering things and 3) if left to his own devices he would be out on top of a mountain in the middle of nowhere with his guns. I really don't have a clue what I'm doing and no one I've found seems to be able to tell me much either so I was hoping maybe someone on this forum could advise me.

I'm Chris, I have served 7 years 6 months on Active Duty and 2 years of Reserve Status in the US Army, Kansas Air National Guard and the US Air Force. I was injured in Iraq while in the Army and was later discharged. I am now going through an Air Force MEB for my back currently so I came here looking for any pointers.

Name is Shawntay been in the Air Force for 3 years. Had surgery for cartlidge tear and many PT sessions for Patella Femoral Syndrome. Was told by my Doc they can't fix it. started my MEB Feb 12 now Aug waiting for my fit or unfit back from PEB. was told my case was reviewed but my VA case manager has changed so there's a hold up.

Greetings to all,

My name is John and I'm am in the infancy of my MEB process. I'm an AF reservists with 21.5 good years of service with 9 years of being active duty army medic. I was blindsided with an MEB with a permanent No Run Profile. I have a internal derangment of medial meniscus with degenerative arthritis. The injury is old and has caused my alignment in my legs to offset. A surgical consideration of high tibial osteotomy is in the works but it's a long recovery. I also have OSA w/ CPAP and uncontrolled blood pressure. I have a nice rap sheet from the army too. I've done 5 deployments over my career and I guess if this the end of my journey, so the way it's gotta be.

I'm grateful to those who participate in this site and are SME's on any of this. I'm always soliciting for people in the know. If there's anything I can do to contribute, I'd be more than happy too.

Take care,

John

Hello all...first off, THANKS for all of the info and I'm sorry that we are ALL going through this. Secondly, my name is Tim and I'm a 22-year active duty Captain in the AF (12.5 yrs prior enlisted service). In my 22 years, I have had reconstructive stomach surgery, inguinal hernia repair surgery, Artificial disc replacement in my neck and currently have two torn discs above and below the artificial disc. Just recently I've been diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease with mild scoliosis. I have deployed to Afghanistan(twice) with all of these conditions and can't take it any longer. My doc has, just this week, initiated my MEB and that caused me to start my research on the process.

Thanks for all of the info and candid comments. Hope everyone's case turns out for the best and I look forward to sharing with you.

Take care,
Tim

Hi, I am a 36 year old female discharge on MEB in 2003. I receive 10% disability severance. I was not inform of Transitioning out of the Army. I was stationed in Larissa Greece and when my MEB came back, They flew me to Vicenza Italy(1 day) and then sent back to the states. I did not realize about the VA until 2008. I was in the hospital for 120 days. I applied for disability compensation and was awarded 100% unemployable. Now I have sent paperwork to PDBR. Please Advise.

Thank you

Hello. This is one helpful site. Name is Will and I spent 10 years in the Air Force and then got hit with the MEB in 06. I got a whopping 10% with severance for some bilateral tendonitis in my triceps and a bad ulnar nerve. What a joke! VA gave 30% combined for those problems and along with other problems, rated 80% total. I just filed my PDBR paperwork in Sept and was assigned docket # 11-0583ish.

Hello,
My name is Mark and I joined this forum in 2009 but never posted. I'm in the Louisiana Army National Guard for 12 years total service, 3 years Active duty and multiple deployments in the Guard. I have been nicked up and injured on every deployment, been on P2 profile mostly but this month downgraded to a P3. Was notified of a MEB this month so I guess I foretold my own fate joining this forum back in 2009. Hopefully all the information I've been reading pays off.
